One would begin with the readme file included with the bootskin program. But a quick overview.. Background image = 640x480 resolution 16 colors ( bit ) ONLY for now. Progress Bar image = 22x9 resolution 16 colors using the EXACT same palette as the background image. Again I stress, read the readme file included with the program. Hope that helps..

Downloading is all relative!!! Here's what ya do DOWNLOAD the bootskin from the Library, save it somewhere. (make mental note of where you saved it) Open the Bootskin program. Click file, then import from file. Navigate to where you saved the stein.bootskin file and select it. Then click open. The unwitting genius with the fantastic hair will now be present in your list of bootskins.

My interpretation of the article was that in the end, a file or group of files compressed with PKware will not be able to be extracted with Winzip, Windows, or anything other than PKware, and vice versa. Note - there is no change in the .zip file extension name taking place. Now that indeed presents a problem as I don't want to have to install multiple programs to unzip a file which doesn't tell me which program I need to use to unzip it in the first place! So.. Pkware needs to release the i

I have to disagree with X and Logic here. I have had an optical mouse for a very long time, using it on the oldest, most crusty funky mouse pad I have. It has always worked without a hitch. However, I only buy genuine Microsoft Mice.. always have. They last longer and are well worth the extra bux. I had a logitec opti mouse.. it lasted all of 6 months. I say go for the optical, it's one of the greatest gadgets on my system. Note - I don't use USB port for connectivity though. I use

Furan, Thanks for that info. Stumpy said he had the problem too and was using the same palette. I didn't check it further from there. Upon modification, using PSP8, I saved my palette from the main image. Created the 22x9 progress bar, loading the palette that I had saved. All worked well.. Can't wait for more colors ability. Even though I don't really care about my boot screen, testing it is a pain, but it is a tad fun for now. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/hot.

Seems easy enough to use and create skins. However, when I used a progress bar as per the readme.txt. It made the screen.bmp colors distort and brighten up badly as soon as the bar kicked in. Without using a progress bar, it looked as well as can be expected from 4bpp colors. [Message Edited]

If you have ever worked with Bryce, you know how disappointing the final result can be when judging your work by that little bitty preview window.. right.. Well, I spent a few days putting this together. It took 3 systems 36 hours to render. I nearly had an cow at this result.. <img src="http://images.sta

I agree.. and am also wondering why no one has answered this post yet! I read in the newsgroup that there is no DX Pro, however.. based on the video it would appear that there is one.

I have had DSL service at work for over 3 years. Verizon provides only the circuit however. My Internet service is with a company named MyVine.com. I have never really had a major issue with the circuit. The ISP occasionaly has a hiccup or two, but overall, it has been a good experience. At home, I have had DSL through Sprint for about a year and 1/2. Sprint provides the circuit, and web service. The email is governed by Earthlink. In the beginning when the DSL first became available in
