Hey, I downloaded all sorts of mods (gov types, events, ship mods, etc) but they dont show up in the game at all. What am I doing wrong?

I have noticed one thing about GalCiv that is pretty poorly done, and hasnt been fixed even in the newer versions: Galatic Resources arent very imaginitive or significant. There are six things you can mine, but all of them are simply ways to upgrade abilities such as morale, military, etc (which, of course, we can already modify with starbases, abilities, gov types, etc.) Why not make those resourses ACTUAL resources? Certain types of materials that can allow you to build different types of ship
I was thinking about getting that expansion pack. But I had a few questions first. I've heard that you can fully customize game settings, maps, victory conditions, etc. Is this trumped-up, or true? for example: If I wanted to, could I make a game with myself, 3 smaller races, and the Drengin in which I had to forge alliances with (and supply) the smaller races to defeat the superior Drengin? Could I choose my number of oppenents? the level of tech they start with? where in the
ha, now game DL was interrupted by another error. Might be a long night.. ah well :)
Hey, I was right..all I had to do was re-boot. I hate computers...I really do.. Thanks for all your help guys. I was easing up past 'frustrated' and cruising into 'balistic'... ..crisis averted. lol Thanks again.
heh, I know...I MUST be blind, right? How could it simply not be there? Well, it's true, it's just not there. Should I re-boot it or something? Is there a search component on there?
ok, it's working now. Under games, it has a list of 5 games...but not galciv...so close, yet so far, eh? lol It has basegolf, stellar frontier, the corp, etc. where is galciv?

Once you have that installed, click the 'Tools' at the top and select 'Register Products'. Then, choose Galactic Civilizations' and enter your serial. Once that is done you will be able to download it from the menu on the main screen
I downloaded it alright, but all that pops up is a bix white empty box with the title of StarDock Central in the upper right. No place to click 'tool's or anything like that... sigh
Err...I was SO close.. I got to the point where I could input my serial, and did so. But after I hit the conintue but, it said 'Windows encountered an error, and my close.' Also, it gave me and option and I didnt know what to click..the default for it was 'OBject desktop'. What is that?
It's window's XP. Yeah, I liked to Civ III a lot, but it just doesnt have the dimensions that GalCiv does. Cant wait to play
Hey all, just bought the game, but dont have the CD. I've been told there is a place I can input my serial number to re-download the game. Anyone know where that is? Thanks.

ARGGG! It happened...knew it would...!!! I downloaded it, and got about 1 hour into a game when the game just froze (I gotta bad comp) I had to reboot and all that, and now the game wont play when I try to open it. I am going to wait until I can buy some blank cd's (to back the files up on so I can 're-install as needed') and then re-download it. Anyone know where I can do that? [Message Edited]
I am weary about downloading software from a site...what if something happens and I lose the files for the game? (IE: comp crashes, viruses corrupting the game files, etc) Will I be able to download another copy for free using my serial number? I have heard that with games like these (direct downloads, constant software updates after the game release, etc) it's essentially the serial number that you're paying for, not necessarily the game itself. I love strategy games and this
Ah, so in other words if I only have the Ranger tech and, say, the Phaser tech, I will have a Ranger with Phasers...but still be without Photons, shields, etc. Got it. Thank you.
If I were to focus on a strong economy/trade/diplo strategy and neglect defense techs, can I buy/trade for advanced defense techs from other civs and start building ships right away? Or do I still have to have all the techs beneath it too? (IE: I get the tech to build Captial Ships from Drengin. Can I start building those ships immediatley, or do I have to also research/aquire the lesser techs like weapons theory/shields/phasers/photons/advanced engineering, etc etc.) ?? Thanks
Hey all, I am trying to buy GalCiv and the Altarian Prophecy exp. pack. Can they be bought together? If so, what is it called (so I can look it up online/on websites of local stores)? Yes, I realize that they can be downloaded off of this site, but in all honesty, Stardock charges literaly twice as much for the game as everyone else... Also, what is the 'Gold' edition? Is this an updated version w/ all the patches/fixes? A new/different version? or what?? Thanks for an
Hey all, I'm a big strategy fan but new to Gal Civ. I had a question about the game before I bought it... does it allow us to play as long as it takes to acheive victory, or will it cut off at a certain year (as in civilization III) ?? That feature on games annoys me to no end... Thanks
