I'm not trying to criticize responsible gun-owners. It's an American right. It's just not the ONLY acceptable way to go about things, which seemed to be what Nitro was implying. I have small children in the house and we are not gun people, generally. It would be far less safe and responsible for us to keep weapons. It's just not for us. We also don't get personal threats due to work. Individual circumstances do make a difference.

I have a home protection system and a sign up for that. Works for me. Isn't it statistically likely that a gun-owner will have their weapon USED AGAINST THEM in the event of a violent break-in? Further, guns are $$$. Post a sign that you have lots of them stock-piled and see if you don't get robbed. :p

The circulation of cool air reduces the risk of SIDS. Homes with infants or elderly people need the ability to affordably heat or cool the house depending on the season. Ridiculous.

I am not a big gun fan and I won't have one in my house. I know there are families out there who teach and live proper gun safety with their children (Tova comes to mind), and I can't say I think that's wrong. I just know that for my own family, guns are not an option. I think generally, people AREN'T safe about weapon storage and use in the home. Obviously, based on the news story you posted, "professionals" aren't much better.

I'm not looking forward to an empty house. I think it's funny when people misuse phrases or misspell things they've only ever heard and never seen written (I notice Charles does this a lot, haha...he butchers colloquialisms). I won't get too high and mighty, though, because I'm guilty too. I know what "tool" means, though, and I'm surprised some people might not know. Seems pretty obvious to me! Like I said, a full third of the foreclosure homes are owned by investors. They're not losing THEIR homes. We get a military discount but still don't go to the movies nearly as often as we used to because of the expense. We usually buy the boys a kids' popcorn+drink+candy and then share a popcorn and soda and candy between us and the little one. It IS expensive. I know a lot of people who either don't buy any snacks and drinks or who bring their own in, but I think part of the fun of going to the movies is the entire experience, including movie popcorn and goodies.
