We are only just now closing in on 6 years so we missed the Clinton years. I understand what you're saying about being prepared for potential negative consequences but honestly, Tova, I spend so much time fretting over things that never come to pass that I just can't allow myself to get worked up over this.

I don't believe in the apocalypse crap, so that's not a concern for me. I am a little worried about how the Democrats handle the military. Overall, though, I am not feeling the doom and gloom. I think time will tell. I do think our greed will be our own undoing, but it's not happening today or tomorrow I guess. I dunno. I just don't think worrying is going to help me any. What's done is done.
Ugh, this single mom thing gets on my nerves! Like women are incapable of making money?!? I have 3 kids (and 1 on the way) and I can guarantee that if something happened and I was raising them alone, they would NOT be "impoverished". Don't underestimate the motivation of a mother to care and provide for her children.
Lucas, you behave like a petulant child. Why don't you go find some other children to play with? You're embarrassing yourself here.
LOL, before you said it, I was thinking the same thing: serial killer or surgeon! Ha!
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27051073/ http://www.filife.com/stories/how-much-to-tip-for-the-waiter-to-like-you http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081030114239AAR3MjF There's a ton more out there, but most suggest 20 for excellent service rather than a starting point, so I guess I am wrong about how much steam the movement has picked up! I actually starting thinking about it seriously after reading a conversation on tipping on a mommy website where most
It's something I've read in several places over time (including, but not limited to, word of mouth). Give me a few minutes (if I don't get interuppted, haha!) and I'll see if I can find a solid source for it.
FS: I still check in with JU most days, but it seems like there's hardly any new articles and old ones barely move. It used to be that the activity on this site was impossible to keep up with! I don't post here anymore, though, I have a blog elsewhere that I post on regularly. Did the kids have a good Halloween? How is Jessica feeling?
While I don't agree that shocking a child and posting it on youtube is "hilarity", I do have to agree that the homeowner was within his rights. It's pretty ridiculous that anyone would argue that a homeowner has no right to non-lethal methods of protecting his home and property. Especially considering he POSTED SIGNS ALERTING PEOPLE TO THE FACT THAT IT WAS ELECTRIFIED. The REAL criminals in this scenario are the dumbass parents.
Really cute! The foliage looks beautiful there, and the kids look great. I like Peter Griffin's big gut, haha!
That's funny! He IS good with shapes! LOL. I can completely understand your decision to alter it a little bit...even though it's not right or fair, he probably would end up being talked about in the teacher's lounge.
Has anyone read/noticed that standard tip for adequate restaurant service is now 20%? I only tip 15% if service is particularly bad, as in uncaring/not trying to do a good job. I usually don't punish servers for being busy or being new and not quite up to speed with the job yet (I had a new waitress spill tea all over me a few months ago, LOL, but it was totally an accident and she was very flustered). Leauki: I think they do here. I'm pretty sure kitchen staff
Gamefly. Don't spend $60 on something you can beat/play through in a week (or weekend).
The guy should have just cut the kid's hand off, SC. That's the punishment for theft, right?
I just love that there's anyone out there with the patience to argue, debate, explain, and re-explain things to Lucas over and over again. Good stuff.
The kid did need to be punished, although I don't find shocking a 9 year old particularly safe or funny (and no, I don't usually find it funny when kids get hurt, sorry). My question is, did the guy KNOW it was a child doing it or did he set this up, just hoping to ward off whomever it was? And I do agree that it's likely the parents were onboard in at least capacity. If he knew ahead of time that it was a child, there are definitely better ways to handle the problem.&nb
What a bunch of smarties on this site! Cool idea, Nitro! And $2? Niiice! One of my last projects before Halloween is making lanterns for the walkway. You paint mason jars white and then paint ghost eyes and mouth on them in black (or other colors I guess...neon colors could be fun). It looks much cuter than it sounds. Then you put tea-lites in them. I got LED tea-lites at Target to avoid fire risk, though. Intitially it was goi
We did the rubber glove thing with jello, but ours was very mangled, LOL. We didn't freeze it. Now we know for next time! Sounds cool!
Can't wait to see the pics! We did a severed hand one year (with jello) but it didn't turn out so great. Sorry about the fridge! I hate when that happens!
Boudica, I thought your pic of your Halloween costume was really sexy!! And not in a showing-tons of skin kinda way. Just beautiful. :) I agree, though, that all the costumes have been pornified. What's really disturbing is how young the age starts for that...you would be hard-pressed to find a girl tween costume that isn't at least somewhat sexually suggestive.
Leauki: I could imagine that going over well with your wife who has to re-arrange, re-organize, and redecorate the rooms every six months, LOL. Very creative idea, though! We have just switched from "allowance" to "commission" in our house. Pay is no longer automatic, and we're working on requiring them to purchase the bulk of their treats/toys (with the exception of things like birthdays, Christmas, etc). They can earn bonuses above and
Actually, it's fairly obvious that you and taltamir are pretty unfamiliar with the expenses and social issues in Hawaii (Oahu, at least, which is by far the most populated of the islands). If that offends you, there's not much I can do about it. Sorry. There are a lot of reasons beyond COL as to why many native Hawaiians experience extreme poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, etc, but it certainly does contribute significantly. Vacationing in Hawaii doesn'
LOL. Try living in Hawaii on $12k (BTW, min wage in Hawaii is higher than on the mainland). Hawaiians will cram so many people into a tiny little place (and the housing in HI is TINY) that it's actually a fire and communicable disease hazard. It's either that or be homeless. There's true, no joke poverty in Hawaii. Google homelessness on Oahu. School buses pick children up from outdoor homeless "villages". This really doesn't have anything to do with the
LOL @ living in Hawaii on $12k a year. Not happening. Funny, though.
I don't understand the warden/public administrator thing...that's bad? (Sorry, I'm a dummy...I have no idea!) I can understand limiting what a prisoner can receive, but forcing you to buy (at INFLATED costs) from a single company seems really, really crooked. And strip-searching visitors? [e digicons]8C[/e] Glad the semester is winding down for you. How long will you have off before things pick back up again? And I'm thinking you should have
