Impatiens are always good for semi shady areas, ('specially New Guniea impatiens,) you might try mixing them in with some shade area bulbs like tuberous begonias, or if there's enough sun, some irises, so that you could have something a little brighter during one season, and color remaining in another. Caladiums also have some very nice color when it's shady enough, otherwise they're just plain jane green. Lobelia??? Nasturtium might grow well
