Hell no, never ever. From all I've read from it, there is NOTHING compelling about it. Only annoying things (HailStorm, protection keys, etc.). No XP is Microsoft's first step into the .NET strategy with witch Microsoft plan to completly take over the whole electronics industry (cameras, PDA, game consoles, even eventually refrigerators, cars, TVs) with proprietary standards. I will take no part in that. I will switch definatly to Linux before I do. No way.

Although I am a fan of Linux, I don't thik it's a good idea. Thems.org already does an outstanding job fot those. Besides, if XWindows themes were to be added, then there would be no reason why not to add Mac themes and icons too. No, let's stick to Windows for this site. Of course Dashboard and PocketBlinds are the exceptions here. But then again, they are Windows CE programs...
Elfie: yeah, it is bad. But as a consolation, really, think about it: someone who writes crap like that is only hurting himself, giving himself a bad name. I,ve had my share of insults in the real world, I've had all sorts of names thrown at me. After a while you learn to take it with a smile, reminding yourself those people share their IQ lvel with the dung beetle.
Elfie, I'm sure you understand jark's frustration though. It is equally frustrating for Frogboy to read people complaining about wincusto at DA.
thecat2000: at the top of the page, there is a link that reads "Message Forum". That's the one. Or you can just go directly to http://forum.deviantart.com UHRBid, I don't understand your problem. I never had any problem whatsoever figuring out how to start a new thread in a forum over at DA (?)... There are 4 forums, maybe that's the only confusing part (Art Scene, Deviants, Help, Suggestions). Once you've entered a specific forum, at the bottom of the page you'll see the new th
If we only kept the most popular skins, we might end up with only XP skins here... Sad thought!
Huh? You mean there is another way to copy/paste than Control+C/Control+V? The spinning logo is totally useless but since it really does in no perceivable way slow down the application, I think it's a cool little gadget. Of course only skinners who can make Flash animations will be able to make their own so it sucks a little. But since the SWF format is now open source, I wouldn't be surprised
Roderick, when you're in a category (say Beatnik, KewlpAd, Coolplayer, etc.) click on the name of the program to get linked to the programs homepage. Example: If you click on the Coolplayer section in the Highlighted apps box up there on the ledft, the first skin right now is: BlackBanana for CoolPlayer Click on the word Coolplayer, wham you'll go on Coolplayer'S homepage. From the program's homepage you can usually download the program (or a trial program if it's payware).
Yep, I agree with everything said. Cool!

Bonne Fête Québécois! Y a-t-il d'autres Québécois à part toi et moi?
If ratings are ever used for filtering purposes, then I think the filtering options should also include usage and downloads. One quick thought about ratings: in a lot of sports using judges, the top score and the lowest score are eliminated and the average is calculated on the remaing scores. What about something like this for the ratings? I would suggest the top 10% rates and the bottom 10% votes be not calculated into the overall ratings. Example: if 100 persons have rated a skin
China, some day I'll come at your door and give you the spanking you deserve! For those who could see the MPEG video, I saved it also in RealVideo format, which I believe should be fine for eveybody. Hope this works. Same address: http://www.gslcom.com/pax/blaize Oh and l0c, that's great news! Congratulations to you too!! By the way, Blaize was born officially on June 20th 200
Hi gang! Thanks for all your wishes. Everything went 100% great. Blaize was born weighing 8 pounds 1 ounce, a very healthy little boy. Here is a page with pictures and a small video: http://www.gslcom.com/pax/blaize Thanks again.
Tomorrow, bright and early, up we go to the hospital. At 8 am, we'll be in the OR for the delivery of our second son. Wish us luck. Talk to you all in a few days. Ciao.
OK, if I remember correctly what my Mac user friend showed me, isn't it really easy on a Mac to make ANY image an icon? I seem to remember him showing me something where he took any image he had and just droped it into the property window or something? And yes, I didn't get the arrow the right way. Most nice icons are available on the Mac plateform, and most people I met wanted to grab the nice Mac icons, not the other way around. Sorry for the confusion.
T-Man, I know nothing of how this site is programmed. I just assumed since people can already choose which "skin" they want displayed, most of the hard work is already done. Of course I can be totally wrong. I thought if we were give a series of presets for image file names, width/height, etc. we could create our own and upload it. I thought maybe a server component may be able to automatically unzip a file, and create a new directory where to place each new skin. And from there, I thou
Cool, thanks Third Eye. Hell Dragon, check out this link: http://www.virtualplastic.org/html/col_mac1.html
I am not sure I understand what you mean ess-vid, but Iconshop works great. I used it many times. I even made some very nice DX objects from Mac OS X icons. Of course I am keeping them to myself, since they are copyrighted.
There is a very good page about it on Plastic'a site: http://www.virtualplastic.net The site seems to be down for the moment, I hope it's nothing permanent. But Iconshop can extract Mac icons. The latest version (version 1.14 alpha) can even extract large OS X icons. Very cool: http://users.pandora.be/liontech/#1.14
OK, I have asked this a couple of time. This thread seem appropriate to ask once again: are there plans to make the site publicly skinnable? It would be very very cool to be able to upload our own skin for the site.
Craeonics: "Hmm, while we're at it, we need an XP site skin as well." There is one...
Oh and did you buy your University diploma yet?
Oh and a little trick amanwhoknowshow: When giving your email address to a machine like this, some people like to add the nospam to their address. Such as: [email protected] Humans will know to remove the nospam part, where automailers will never get to you. Of course, I never follow my own advices, that's why I get 30 junk mails a day.
I get more than 30 junk mails a day. Dunno if their from here or elsewhere. But at this point, when it gets to be that many, you're to a point where you just press delete without looking. I don't even check my mail most of the day cause I know it's only junk.
