Black Xero, do you have another email? GMail doesn't like the attachment. I wonder if it's their counter-action regarding the Gmail Drive software. Anyhow, attachment won't go through Gmail.
saloom, all right. I may update it some time in the near future. Email resent with attachement zipped. sharpshark: you don't need Thunderbird if you don't mind entering starting out with a blank address book and entering the contacts over one by one. It's just the importing feature only works with LDF files. You can still test the basic functionality if you want.
saloom, I sent you the beta. Thanks. As for the slideshow, this is quite an old object. The first DX slideshow made, I believe. BUt since then a few better and easier to configure one have been created, I'm not sure it's worth it to update this one. Let me know if you'd still want me to. If I do, I'd have to work a bit on it in order to take advantage of the latest DX features and the more knowledge I've gained since then.

thomassen, there is Super Karamba (a spin-off of Karamba on steroids), except even that doesn't match DesktopX. It's more comparable to SysMetrix. Not bad at all, but my all means not as power nor as easy to develop widgets for (it uses Python for scripting).

dissimulo, I have too delt with people who had no clue on how to use their computers. Computers have no equivalent in the "Real World(TM)". Therefore, no OS will ever be "simple". They all must be learned. How logic, on a Mac, is it that dragging the floppy or the CD to the trash will eject it? Logic would say that such an action would erase its content. I am on the final tweaks of a desktop address book widget I've been working on for the past few weeks. OK, typing this from Linux, using Firefox. To get the whole address selected, double-click on it. And Mouse Wheel works fine here.
I don't think it's a Firefox issue but a Linux issue. Must check later when I reboot in Linux.

FOr a Noob, most definately look into a Debian based distro. SimplyMEPIS is a very good choice. It has a GUI apt get software that makes installing/uninstalling software a breeze. Unless you don't mind paying, then Linspire is also a very good Linux noob choice (it's also Debian based).
