Well, all I can recommend you is to be patient, I'll upload in a couple of hours the promised new version on i-mod, which has a much more detailed debugg.err( including all hardware info, os type etc. I need. With next version it will be much more easier for me to investigate without asking question after question

Actually. I thought MS .net Framework has a downward compatibility. I does not seem to be the case with 3.0. If you can, try to install .net2.0 and all should be fine. If you still have problems, let me know.

@ All If you download the GalCiv2IDE, please help making it more stable, to fix bugs by giving feedback. Development could speed up, if some more people replied on i-mod-productions If you wish, I can also create a bugreport thread here on stardock. There also exists a thread in the caves on stardock It may be foun

Which would mean the user cannot setup an "Earth" in a custom map? The first feature request on implementing customplanets.xml already came in, there wouldn't be such feature if I got your point? I might be a bit braindead today, its so hot here 34°

Kryo, how does it generally work with custom planets along with maps? could find docu on that either. What's the deal with startype=7 (sol)? Btw, you haven't come across an answer to my satellite question?

Hey, So I finally decided to play the Pre-made map "Epic" that comes with the game. I was excited to have a huge map with an even distribution of stars, but was disappointed to find out that every star system was exactly the same. One star per sector, one planet per star. Is there anyplace I can find a description or map of how all the pre-made maps look? Is there one for the scenarios? The in-game descriptions are

Since it is not documented anywhere(it may but I haven't found), I'd like to know the value ranges for the satellite tags in map files ... I figured out, that all five tags are obviously floats, however I don't know their ranges. At the moment I set the controls as follows: SatelliteSize: 0-100 Orbit: 0-100 OrbitSpeed:-10 - +10 Tilt1,Tilt2: -10 - +10 Also I noticed, that the rotationspeed of (at least stars) did change their range, the guide reads 0.02

Ok thanks, worst case scenario as I thought, however you don't know what models from what folder? I already parse the gc2ships.xml for that, but I need to specify either DL or DA path for the whole shipcreation upon fileloading, I think I have to rewrite the ship part make it dynamic

Hi @ all, I really need to know, if dark avatar uses only models from its models folder, or if it also reads some of the dl models, since its important when parsing a mapfile when coming to ship tags, ie shiptype . I want to implemt the ship models into the editor. The second question is about starbases, do mapfiles support starbases? Can't remember of the campaign

@theStormWeaver can you give any details on your work? At the moment I redesign the mainUI, making the IDE modular, so that you could implement an Interface which "routes" your menu code to the mdi main menu. My problem is, that I don't know the internal design of you tool, if you gave some feedback, it would be great, since I delayed the release of mapeditor (due to that thing), maybe you want to share the source so I can put in a dummy placeholder? Do you have any other idea about maki

Well, since I've got a life as well, I was planning to release the tool with a first version of the mapeditor by this weekend. Unfortunately I found two nasty bugs , so the next version won't make till probably mid of next week. Concernig the whole project, a Tech-/PlanetaryImprovementeditor(-generator)--generally I want to cover all xml related stuff-- is planned as well. This will take time, I don't have a real timetable for the whole project--it is too much dependent on my spare time.<br/

I didn't want to insult you either, I just wanted you to think about your first posts, since developing software is not as linear as you might expect. Sometimes you encounter bugs/difficulties you have to sort out, taking a huge amount of time you didn't expect to spent on. There is much more to consider than a nice look and feel GUI. However I agree with you, that an official one would be nice though. On the other hand, I rather like beeing fed with constant content updates on the gam
