Well, Say you have the 200% manufacturing bonus and you build a farm on it. Nothing happens. Build a factory and its twice as effective. Building a factory on a precursor mine (+700%!!) will change your mind on if it works or not

Try scrolling your mouse wheel. Or if you dont have one, Press the + or - keys
One great use for farms is to build them on farm bonus tiles and then build markets. Instant supertax planet.
I agree with the thing about the influence being shown at the start. I like not knowing where the other races are and that gives it away. I disagree, Its a helpful indicator on where you stand and in how much trouble you soon will be in. -- Part I - Downloading the 5MB Preload package This part was rather frust
Well done! The beta was great and the full version is arriving to me at 60kb/sec!
Spells "Tough" as "Touch" Taken from the statsheet for Draginol
That too is another way of getting good planets.. I guess its a matter of getting to them before the other civs get it
Terraforming in Galciv2 works by researching the terraforming branch of the tech tree (Planatary improvement -> Soil improvement -> Habatat improvement -> Terraforming) and each tech after Planatary improvement will add 2 or so more tiles to the planet (I think that one tile = one planet class level). There are indeed random events that can and will transform planets, There is the full blown event which has been showcased in a recent play example, A random colonizational event in whic
there is any experience bar so you know when ur ship is near to the next level of experience (as in a lot of RPG)? Yep! When you click on a ship the U.I will display all of the major ship statistics, Including experience. -- <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class="mb-Body-Quote-Tab
Lets consider the following scenarios: Ship A is a small fighter with 16 healthpoints. He has level 4 defences* and level 2 attack. He is level 0. Ship B is a large frigate with 40 something hitpoints. He has 5 attack and 1 defence. He is level 0 Ship B will allways win in that scenario. However if Ship A were a level 2 ship it would have some 28 hitpoints, Giving it the staying power to whittle down Ship B. Ship A will emerge battered and bruised but
If its any concession, Ships gain experience. After battles a ship will gain experience depending on how tough the fight was (For a pushover your ship will be hard pressed to raise the experience meter by one point, For a very narrow victory however you will most likely gain a level). Admittedly the bonuses only apply to the hitpoint values but it is better than nothing. -- I would also like to say that just because it worked in Masters Of Orion II, Do
Patches in Galciv II are divided into 4 catagories: Core - Updates the GalcivII game itself (E.G An update could include a new starbase module.) Multimedia - Updates the music, Sound effects and similar (Example of an update would be a new piece of music) Movies - You know when you first do something? (Find an anomaly, Colonise/Invade a planet, etc) and start up the game? Movie updates affect theese Tutorials - Reference Material made by Kristin Hatche
There is no profit without risk... Sending a constructor out to build a starbase is a risk Desciding which weapon tech path to follow is a risk The random event wherein a minor race gains extreme power is a serious risk. Nothing in GalcivII can be done without risk. Get used to it.
Resources do not respawn. I'm not sure about anomolies, but if they respawn, it's at a very low rate. Indeed. Resources are created at map generation. Resource generation is a ONE OFF but all resources are permanent fixtures so really there is no chance of them being destroyed (Unfortunatly I cannot say that for your mini
There is also a Galactic Wonder that you can build (Galactic Privateer) that will prevent any of your trade routes being attacked and destroyed.
I've had all of the events I have heard of, Except for the thing in one of Brad's play examples - The drengin having an alignment polarity reversal.
Well I would say that they would surrender to the millitary superpower (otherwise if say, They surrended to Brad they know the would get creamed sooner or later) But dosent relations have a say in that matter too?
movies, tutorials, and multimedia Highly reccomended.
The frog hath blessed you with a visitation! (First time I've seen that smily) Whats the betting a mod will be released unlocking some of theese things?
I read in another thread that all ships have a minimum of 1 strategic movement, so you don't really *need* to put engines on them, right? If that is the case, it makes monitor ships a lot more useful (i.e. more weapons) By default all ships have 1 tile of movement space per turn, However that can be boosted with: A. Engine mod
If I had some sprited Galciv ships I could hack up a low quality space invaders clone in a few weeks All the same, If there are some GC Ship sprites out there, Let me know..
The ultimate sensor boat: Step one: Research Huge hulls and all of the Miniturization Techs. Step two: Open the shipyard menu and click New. Step three: Select Huge hull and pile on all the sensor IV's you can get Step four: Build it Step five: Launch it Step six: Sit back, Relax and enjoy the show. -- One of theese suckers can unveil most of a large map.
However if you have a middle mouse button you can hold it down and move your mouse around to rotate your field of view. With only one planet it gives quite a reasonable imitation of orbit
Nope -- One way to remedy this is for Stardock to post high res packages tailored for each resolution setting.
