The Population value (shown in the lower-left corner of the screen) is always too large to be displayed. It shows the beginning of the value, then ends with an ellipse, like: 1728234... I would suggest that either: A) the value is bugged, OR B) the value is correct, but the text box needs to be bigger, OR C) the value is correct, but should be shown in either Millions or Billions (like 1728M or 1.72B) - Proud Canadian

It looks like the "Spending" value displayed for each of the AI planets (seen by clicking on any AI planet on the main map) in my current game is an uninitialized value. All the values are in the trillions, which leads me to believe that an uninitialized INT value is being displayed. The Spending for player-controlled planets are set to the correct values. - Proud Canadian
I just emailed a saved game that should reproduce this to the gc2bugs email address.
Maybe you could differentiate between Trade Routes and Auto-Pilot destinations using color and/or line thickness? Alternatively, could you make any of the lines pulsate or something (to make them stand out from others)? I know this is going WAY back, but does anyone remember in MOO1 (yes, I said WAY back!) where production redirect destination lines had an effect that showed what direction the line (arrow) was travelling. It was sort of a two-tone dashed lin
I could probably even design buildings for each race myself. You should! Maybe you should just push for Stardock to make "race unique" building icons be a mod-able thing. That way they don't have to spend time and effort on making the graphics, but you (or other modders) can go nuts.
I think I see where this is coming from. I was looking in a debug.err file, and I saw a section where the log shows ship designs being loaded. For AI races, I see entries like: Loaded ship type: Escort class 12Drengin Empire Loaded ship type: Defender class 1Altarian Republic and for my race, I see these kind of entries: Loaded ship type: Long Ranger II class LongRangerII Loaded ship type: L'il Bugger I class L'ilBuggerI The
Hmmmm, I think it just had a missile rack, an engine, a sensor, and a couple life support gizmos (the things that extend ship range).
I am getting this error over and over again in here when I try to post, or read an existing post: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. The frame of the GalCiv2 page is displayed, with that error message in the middle. It doesn't happen every time, but it does happen fairly often. Sorry if I have made duplicate posts, but it is due to this issue. - Proud Canadian
When playing the beta last night, I tried for the first time to invade an enemy colony. I was successful, but ended up with a crash to desktop after: 1) invasion was won 2) I got the message that I plundered a new technology 3) the cutscene window for my first successful invasion appeared (minus the actual cutscene of course) with the "blah blah blah billions of troops on each side are involved, yadda yadda yadda" message When I clicked the Done
The race color highlights and unique Initial Colony building would be a nice addition.
I think it needs a much more subtle background. I'm not sure what would be better than the current one, but what's in the beta now doesn't work for me.
Does anyone else find that nebula background really annoying? It makes it even harder to see ships that are on the map, and it doesn't really look very nice. I'd almost prefer a plain starfield background. Anyone have any comments on this? - Proud Canadian
If you create a ship design that includes a Star Scanner component, the ship design now has the Survey special ability showing. If you remove the Star Scanner component from the design, the Survey special ability stays flagged, even though the required special component has been removed from the design. - Proud Canadian
I haven't read all the replies on this one, but I like the idea of low morale translating to low productivity / no productivity / rebellion on colony tiles. Who knows what colony improvement may go down due to an unhappy population? I hope it's not the Red Light District. Or the Starport. Or the Turbinium mines! Damn you Quaid!
That new technology tree looks great! The one in the current Beta really .... uh ..... well it sucks. I can't wait to try out the new one. - Proud Canadian
I saw my SDC client auto-update Altarian Prophecy to a new beta version recently. I was curious to see what changes were made, but I can't find any "history" file that lists what was changed. I also couldn't find anything in SDC or on the Stardock site. Is this information provided anywhere? I like to know what has changed so I can try it out in the game (even if its just a bug fix). - Proud Canadian
Oh boy, did I ever get flamed! I think you guys have won me over with your arguments. The only place I actually use rotation is on the ship design screen, when I am trying to mount components on the back and underside of the ship. On that screen, I found middle mouse button to be annoying. However, to be consistent through all interfaces, I guess it makes more sense to
I have to agree with Glavius. I was designing a new ship type last night and thinking that the middle mouse button is very unintuitive for rotating the model. Homeworld was a great example of an intuitive control setup. I know that on the main map the right-click button has been used for setting a ship destination, which was kept from GalCiv 1, but I think you should ask yourself this question: Is the right-click used for setting a ship destinati
It would be great to see the lines drawn on the map from a ship/fleet to its auto-pilot destination. Once you get a few ships on the map, it is quite difficult to remember who is going where without the lines drawn. This used to exist in the original GalCiv 1 game. Is this feature coming in a later Beta? - Proud Canadian
In my current game, the main screen lists my GALACTIC DOMINATION rank as: 6/3 There are 3 races in the game (including mine), so the "3" is right, but obviously the "6" is a mistake. - Proud Canadian
On the Colony List popup window, click on the Starport build progress bar. You get another popup that allows you to change the Starport build project for that colony. This popup displays obsolete ship designs as well as non-obsolete ship designs. NOTE: This problem does not occur if you go to the Starport window from the main colony window, it only happens on the Starport POPUP from the colony list. - Proud Canadian
On the Colony List popup window, ship names with blanks spaces are displayed with the spaces stripped out on the Starport build progress bar for each colony in the list. example: A ship design called "L'il Bugger I" would be displayed as "L'ilBuggerI" on the Starport progress bar. - Proud Canadian
I created a ship type with a Tiny base hull. On the main map, it looks ok when zoomed in. When I zoom out, other ships change from the rendered model to a plain 2-D hull-type icon. This can be seen with the 2 starting ships (colony and survey ship) when you zoom out. Having no "zoomed out icon" for ships with a Tiny hull makes them extremely hard to see on the map. Sensor Drones are even harder to see. - Proud Canadian
So what did happen to all the females in the future? Did they get tired of the males wasting their time with pointless video games and sports broadcasts? Maybe they relocated to a universe where the guys are more interested in fashion and romance? ok, that's just silly. But maybe more females would be interested in GalCiv 2 if the technology tree had some interesting new additions? How about these: - Advanced Handbags - Binge Shopping Economics<
I guess the point I was trying to make was that ALL ships in the game should be: (Base Hull) + extras = Ship I don't want to see ANY pre-fab, non-upgradable ships in the game. BoogieBac seems to have confirmed that this will be the case. I h
