I would like to see different costs associated with the 3 weapon (and defense) tracks: MISSILE, BEAM, PROJECTILE. What I'm suggesting is that one track is cheaper to advance in for early levels, but very expensive in the upper levels. Another is much more expensive early on, but comparitively cheaper in the upper levels. The third is "in the middle" for the whole tech tree. Maybe this: EARLY TECH LEVELS: ---------------------------------- MISSILE: c

Hi guys, I like the GalCiv 1 concept of having a ruling political party with associated bonuses, but I think much more can be done with this without too much effort. WHAT I DON'T LIKE --------------------------- - Once the game is started, you can never change to a different political party - It is way too easy to win the votes to stay in power - Votes are only based on current Morale, and that can be improved immediately by lowering

Playng GalCiv I could not always tell why a race was mad at me. An optional list of items affecting relations (for the good or bad) per race and hints (on the bad about how to fix) might be cool. In GalCiv II it might be that the alien races are more distinct and have more individual styles and personalities that make relations less ambiguous,

Never mind, it was a serial number problem. Still don't understand what's going on for sure. I have an email from my GalCiv2 purchase with one serial number - that one didn't work. But just for kicks I requested my serial number again via email. For whatever reason, that has a totally different serial number! And that one worked . . .

It sounds like the same thing that happened to me. Something gets corrupted in the game, and once that happens it can never be saved again. It will crash whenever you attempt to save (or autosave). The corruption persists in your samegame file, so quitting and reloading will not get rid of it. Start a new game! - Proud Canadian

My Stardock Central also crashes itself while "updating network and application information". The standard windows error message about sending an error report to microsoft pops up. Same problem here...

This may have nothing to do with GalCiv2, but... I am at a hotel with an internet connection that is a little sluggish. I'm not sure if that is causing these crashes. Every time I load up SDC, it first does the "verifying internet connection", then displays the list of News items, then after a few seconds with status "searching for updates" showing, I get a crash to desktop. I don't even have to click anything, just start SDC and wait for it to crash. Anyone

Hey instant, I'm with you on the Securom and cd-in-drive thing. That is such bulls***! I HATE having to dig around for game disks. However, I have to say that I like Valve Steam. Sure, you have to be online with high-speed internet to use it (otherwise the auto-updating would take an eternity), so that is not convenient for your situation. The nice thing about Steam is that I don't need my game CDs anymore, and it doesn't matter if I lose my CD-keys, since t

Yeah, exactly. Once the game got corrupted somehow, I was never able to save that game again. I sent a copy of the save to Stardock, so hopefully they can diagnose the cause.

When I have one or more ships that still have movement points, pressing the 'F' key will crash to desktop. I thought that 'F' would do the same thing as the Find button.

When I load a game, these actions happen automatically every time: 1) The research window is opened, then 2) The Colony Mgmt window is opened on my home planet Why does this happen? These actions are not very useful (especially opening the home planet window)

When I colonize a new planet and give it a custom name (ex: change Bradley III to Boogietown), the old planet name still remains on the galactic map (but the new custom name is on the Colony Mgmt screen). As a workaround, docking any ship on the planet will trigger the galactic map to update the displayed name.

Here's the scenario: 1) Have one or more planets with Basic Starport already built (able to build ships there) 2) Get the technology that allows the Upgraded Starport 3) Click on the existing Basic Starport on a planet 4) Queue the upgrade to Upgraded Starport (NOTE: My build order was behind another build order in the queue, not sure if this is required to reproduce the bug) 5) Save the game 6) Load the game 7) After the game load, t

I have experienced the same thing with a regular ship (not survey ship) where: 1) Ship graphic does not move, but 2) Affects of a ship moving seem to occur 3) Ship cannot be selected by clicking on the graphic It does seem like the "phantom ship" can be manipulated by using the Find button (if it has movement points left), despite the fact that it has not graphic associated with its real current position.

I have verified that this was related to the specific game I was playing. I started a new game and this problem went away. Problem save game and SmartException log sent to Stardock.

This is now happening with Autosaves too. This is a big problem for me, since it prevents me from continuing to test the game beyond the first few turns.

Repeatable CTD bug: 1) Go to Save Game screen from the menu 2) Type in the name of your saved game (any name) 3) Click Save button. result: Crash To Desktop - Proud Canadian

When saving a new ship design, you are presented with a Description textbox as the last step. For some reason, typing a dash (-) in this text box will put a "1/2" symbol in the box instead of the dash. (sorry, I can't reproduce the 1/2 symbol here. I think you know what I'm talking about, its one of the extended ASCII symbols) - Proud Canadian
