I just played a Normal level game against 9 opponents. 8 of them are almost totally idle with no ships, no techs researched, colonies almost empty of buildings, no ships built, etc. Only the Drengin actually did anything, and they are also far behind me in everything. Something is definitely wrong with Normal AI being this unreactive. Top of debug.err file is shown below: Debug Message: Version v1.3 beta 2a last updated on: Tue Aug 8 16:18:51 2006 Debug Message:

The worst thing ever is STEAM Why are there so many people here who whimper and whine about Steam? I've purchased games via Stardock Central and Steam. I don't see why one is supposed to be so much better than the other. Both SDC and Steam will download and install your games for you, and both will manage the CD-keys in your account for the ga
I'm glad I'm not the only GalCiv2 fan who is also a Battlestar Galactica junkie.
*bump* I saw someone else report this too. Also, this bug hurt my feelings.
I have had this also. There are two things: 1) I charges WAY WAY more than 8 bc per turn, and 2) It is backwards! The race who is supposed to GET money ends up PAYING money!!
I had this happen to me also. I almosts lost planets in a game where I owned half of the galaxy. It can be a game ruiner alright.
Yeah I noticed these too. At least this is just an XML fix for Stardock. Hope they get updated soon.
Some of those are simply amazing! The big robot one blows me away, but my favorite is the ship that looks like a bird.
Are you looking at the DESIGN upgrade window, or the SHIP upgrade window? It is the SHIP upgrade window that is broken.
You should only be allowed one capital pre race. The capitals you get from invading should be destroyed in my view.In fact capitals seem a exploit for the user, as the A.I just places them random it seems. I'm with Ash on this one
I'm surprised that the timetable bug still persists, as it has been around for awhile. The time to complete that is listed on the colony build queue almost never matches what is on the colonies list popup (that docks on left-hand side on main map window).
When you capture an alien world, if it has one of the following buildings: - Economic Capital - Research Capital - Manufacturing Capital you cannot decommission them. This is particularly annoying when the dumbass aliens built a Research Capital on a planet with no research buildings. It would be nice if the Decommission option was available when you click on these types of structures.
When you choose to upgrade a ship to a newer model (not upgrade a DESIGN but upgrade a SHIP) both the before and after stats only show the Beam/Shield stats. The Missile/PD and Projectile/Armor stats are always shown as zeroes.
The Voting Power chart shows voting points for all the races that started the game, even if they were eliminated long before.
By the time you can build the Secret Police Center super project (I think it is unlocked by researching Good and Evil), you are almost guaranteed to have regular buildings that give big Morale boosts. The Secret Police Center only gives +20 Morale to the planet you build it on. This is a total waste of a building tile. This super project should give AT LEAST +100 to make it worthwhile (as a one-per-race super project).
If you offer to Attack... in the trading window, you can go to war without having the Senate vote on declaring war.
This one totally screwed my last game: The United Planets law "Tax on starbases located in someone else's sector" was voted in. It was supposed to tax a race 8bc for each starbase they own located on a tile that is culturally controlled by another race BUG SYMPTOMS: 1) On the United Planets screen, the law is listed as costing 81 bc per base per week instead of 8 bc!!! HOLY CRAP! 2) In my last game, I controlled more than half the galaxy in my end game. I
This bug has been around since Beta 1. It happens very randomly, so I think Stardock is having a hard time hunting it down. It's a really pain in the butt when it happens.
If you are doing an Upgrade on an existing ship model, and the model has more than one engine attached, this happens: 1) Remove one of the engines by clicking on the engine in the components list and then clicking Remove. So far, all is well and the engine is removed and the space points reclaimed. 2) Select another engine and click Remove. Now you will see something wierd, where the first engine that you removed is put back onto the ship?!? If you put a replace
Ugh! Yes this is an annoying one. I really miss the tooltips.
This happened to me, but the total inflence went to another race. A race that I was beating to a pulp surrendered to the Arceans. On the next turn, the Arceans had total influence over the whole map. Two of my planets (one was my homeworld!) went into "danger mode" (showed the red skull icon). Luckily, the problem went away after 2 turns and the influence zones returned to normal.
On the first turn after every United Planets meeting, various cost and revenue displays show as 0. For instance, your espionage costs show 0 for every race, regardless of where you move the slider. There are several places on different windows that exhibit this behavior on the turn after UP.
When this random even happens: "A precursor device found on planet X has been activated by the and has raised the quality of all other planets in the system by 10!" The main map icons for the other planets do not reflect the change in Planet Quality. In my game, there were 4 other planets of PQ 0. After the event, they all became PQ 10, but still were displayed as an empty circle (like a PQ 0 planet would be).
A muppet? You mean like Kermit the Frog? Didn't know he aspired to be Supreme Overlord. In the intro movie, when you see the Dread Lord on the ship... that IS Kermit. He wears a cloak to cover his hideous green skin. Fozzie the Bear is the XO, and Miss Piggy runs the engine room. Didn't anyone read the back story?
Another comment: If I queue up several game components for download, I am going to let it run overnight. This won't work if Stardock Central pops up an error window on the first error and it sits there for 8 fricken hours waiting for me to click the OK button. JUST RETRY DAMMIT! RETRY! RETRY!!!!
