I'm sure this discussion is very interesting but you guys have polluted an interesting game related topic with this... jelly. I guess it's too late to talk about it further. Don't blame us! The guy who started this thread already threw in the church stuff! <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class="mb-Body-

we have no influence on the battle. There is no tactical battle. You are just watching the result of the battle. That's a good point. Without tactical control of the ships, this wouldn't really make sense in GalCiv2.
No way! If you want my bugs, you'll have to pry them out of my cold dead hand!
Hi Lyndy62, I think the Betas have advanced to the point where no new gameplay components will be added. The game development is supposed to finish at the end of January (I read this in a recent Stardock post) so they have time to ship the game for the end of February. I remember the feature you are describing being in MOO2. It was fun boarding ships and scrapping them on one of your planets to get techs that you didn't have yet. -PC
I don't mean to sound like a snot, but what do you expect? If I understand you correctly, it sounds like you don't understand why, when you attempt to upgrade one of your vessels that it outside your empire's sphere of influence, it is taking a long time and costing a lot of money? Oh you did NOT just disrespect Lucky Jack now DID YOU?!? <i
There was a big campaign to block the sale of beer and wine in a city I was living in. The churches were accepting large contributions to fight beer and wine sales by liquor stores in the next town. They won. Money makes a man act funny. Well it's about damn time! I hope the church can also remove math and science from the local schools
4.) Are you upgrading to a larger hull size? I don't think you can do that. What you mentioned sounds reasonable. If minor changes to an existing design translate into a low upgrade cost (and vice-versa) then I completely agree.
Colonies that you conquer are not required to pay maintenance. Planets that you colonize pay 25 maintenance. Is this when you conquer a HOMEWORLD of another race? They have the "Civilization Capital" improvement instead of the "Initial Colony" improvement (which has a 25 maint cost). Can anyone confirm this?
6.) The game lets you build over already built additons to planets. Is this supposed to happen? That is supposed to happen. Some of the "value" of the existing structure is applied to the new one (I'm not sure how much) so it is cheaper to build over something rather that build on an empty tile. It's a new feature in 4D.
Is the GNN report whacked or what ? The GNN "The X Most Powerful Races" report has been reversed (top is weakest, bottom is leader) since the first Beta. You JUST noticed?!?
I'm not sure what else I can add beyond what the title says. It seems to be VERY expensive to upgrade ships, to the point where it's just better to build brand new ones instead. Is this how it was intended to work? Is the main purpose of upgrading to keep experienced ships (that have leveled up) up-to-date, or was general fleet upgrading the intention? Maybe I'm missing something. I'd like to hear other peoples' opinions on this topic.
bug? "Stock Market" description says: "+10 Morale". Is that right? Shouldn't this be an economy boosting building? The morale boost isn't even very good, considering the time required to build a Stock Market.
bug or feature: In the late game, when I am committing genocide on the minor races at a rate of 1 race every 5 turns (simply because my ships can only travel so fast) new minor races are appearing at almost the same rate! Its just rediculous how many PQ 15 worlds I have now because of all the new minor races causing crap planets to suddenly be PQ 15. Who needs terraforming?!? NOTE: I am playing on a map set to Habitable Planets: Uncommon, Number of Stars: Common, Numbers
I'm annoyed that in the late game, new minor races are appearing faster than I can euthanize the existing ones. It's just insane! All kinds of planets are becoming instantly PQ 15, and I immediately gobble them up by killing the new inhabitants.
I hate diddling. Please noodle with the code until is it properly tweaked. I'd like to see Jack's suggestion implemented.
bug: It appears that ALL minor races who are in the game AT THE START ONLY, have 2 Starports and 2 Civilization Capital improvements on their homeworld. This should never happen. This is not the case for minor races who emerge mid-game (I'm fairly certain of this, but not 100%). This is a big deal for a few reasons: 1) A Civ Capital gives food production of 15 mt/wk. With two of these, a minor homeworld can support 30Bil pop and gets a TON of manufacturing points.<b
bug or feature? The Carinoids minor race had transports in orbit with a defense of 1 listed in each category type, but all zeroes for weapons. Is this some kind of "in orbit" bonus that I'm seeing? They also had some freighters in orbit that had zeroes across the board for attack and defense. Why waste space on a cargo hull with defenses at all, but worse, have defense and no offense?!?
The Society summary page shows a 0 score for all civs I never read the Society Page.
i think the tactical screen need work - there could be an opportunity here to do something insanely aesthetic - much like a board in a board game - it might make the map a little clearer, and encourage players to zoom in and out more often? an inverse star map (ie black stars/white space)??? just a thought.......insane of course Exactly the ki
I have a problem when I'm traveling on business (which is very often). I have to survive with only my company-issued laptop for gaming. The reason I got interested in GalCiv 1 was the low machine requirements, and I'm hoping that this piece of crap VAIO will be enough for GalCiv 2. What I'm asking for are some settings that can really reduce the visuals in the game for a weak machine like mine. I can enjoy the full eye-candy on my gaming box at home, but when I'm away I really need
1.It would be great to have some fighters in the sky in that ground invasion screen, to go with the tanks, infantry. To complete the look. That's a good idea. 3. Why does the united planets have the old plain bor
I, for one, would find it helpful if the research screen would show what starbase modules are made available by a tech, in addition to the improvements and future techs. I second that motion.
On a planet I have successfully invaded, if I select a tile with an existing project on it, the "Available Projects" list shows all available projects, not just the upgrades for the project I've selected. For example, I've selected an Entertainment Center, and it appears that I can "upgrade" it to Diplomatic Translators. Not a bug. Starting wi

That's a cool ship.
