I keep getting "invalid URL" error over and over and over and over (and OVER)! The download is basically not working at all for me.

My favorite tech description from the Betas was for Basic Miniaturization: "Bigger is not always better. At least that's what I'm always being told." and there's also something in the tech description for Starship Defenses about the added benefit of it "lower the insurance premiums on your ships". classic.
You DO realize that there is enough time until we can play this game to hunt down and kill those who are currently enjoying it??? Start in zip code 30346. I'll be here until Thursday. My laptop has the release candidate. MUAHAHAHA!! <TD c
wow! you guys are really desperate to get this game. Well I hate to post and run, but as a member of the private gamma test I have two options right now: 1) Stay and read bizarre posts about rumors of mutant servers on steroids running amok, or 2) Play a few rounds of GalCiv 2 I think my choice is clear. PS: The game is super fun, the user-creatable ship designs look great, and the addiction fac
Impossible Mission! My favorite part about that game was the button with little cat footprints on it (the "paws" button). Ahhh the memories of my good 'ol Commodore 64.
And in this way, all the horrible problems that seem to always happen on these kinds of things can be dealt with before the actual release. In theory, it should work fine. But my friends at other game companies have told me the same thing -- they were sure they had made sure everything would be fine and then it was still a cluster.. Stardock will provide the appropria
Also, how does this game handle on laptops? It's my backup computer and it has a ATI Radeon X200 Xpress. Not exactly the highest end card, but it does play Civ IV at high resolution. I am running the Gamma test version on a real piece of poo laptop (it is over 2 years old with a video card the only has 16Mb of RAM) and it still runs. I just ha
"Item #7. You need to be running your system at 1024x768 or better. That means 1280x600 won't work both X and Y needs to be equal or better. 1600x1200 is fine. 1280x1024 is fine. 4000x3000 is fine. This should only affect certain older laptops." I guess that means 1920 x 1200 is fine, isn't it? Yeah, he is saying that you screen width mu
You can design any kind of ship you want with any combo of guns/engines/sensors/etc. As much flexibility as you need.
Will each sector just have a star in the middle of it? It makes the map look way too grid-like. I remember that some of the betas had a bug that generated maps like that. I think that was fixed in the gammas quite some time back.
Too complicated to explain. Better if you simply download The Ur-Quan Masters and help yourself to the yummiest chunk of gaming goodness ever made. That goes for the rest of you! I've already played it! The nostaglia...
Like many people I preordered MOOIII in anticipation of what a great game it would be only to be disappointed (and, of course, to then get GalCiv). I've tried to go back to MOOIII a couple of times just to see if there's any chance of redemption. In fact, partly in anticipation of GalCivII, I've picked up MOOIII again to give it one last chance and have, once again, come t
Hey Luke, I know how the feds can be with products that aren't boxed with french and english on the cover. However, GalCiv I was stocked in EB Games in Canada, so I'm sure GalCiv 2 will be also. Stardock knows what's up.
I'm just spreading rumors. According to the terms of the closed gamma test, I can neither confirm nor deny that the moons in GalCiv 2 are, in fact, gigantic Dreadlord testicles. Very sorry. PC
I heard that the Dreadlords used to be HUGE. Their bodies were as large as a PLANET! Some Dreadlords were castrated in an ancient RITUAL! The moons were their TESTICLES!
Who knows, they might add in some MP3 player stuff in a future update. It definitely won't be in the first production release if it wasn't part of the beta test.
It needs a lot of work * get that voting box out of the way * make the background image SUBTLE! * make a navigation section that is either down the left side, or across the top (look at this page, for example) I can tell it's your first web page
The intro is SO COOL! When you see them nuke the planet of the Ewoks and all their furry little bodies get vaporized.... chilling!
Or Quicksilver!
The gamma builds are a lot more solid. Each new gamma build just contains bug fixes and new content (like art, cutscenes and sound). They stopped putting in new features a while back. Don't be worried. There aren't many major bugs being reported now.
So no, you can't just whip it out. Always sound advice.
uhg u again can we get some sort of admin to kick this guy off? advertising for an old game on someone else's site is just plain stupid i mean i wouldnt mind a "if you like this game be sure to check this one out" but this vastly superior thing is arrogant huh? Did someone delete a post? <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center
I don't give a rat's ass about multiplayer. If I want multiplayer, I'll play a 3D shooter (FYI: I love Day of Defeat: Source and CS:S). I buy TBS games so I can play them at my own pace and save the game anytime I like. I've played computer games for more years than I'm willing to admit (LOTS!), and the only time I ever played a TBS game on multiplayer was against a friend of mine. After playing the whole game over several sessions, we both agreed that it was too hard for us to both find tim
I don't think you're ever going to see tactical combat. Frogboy seems to be against it, which is a big negative. It also puts more (maybe too much) emphasis on ship combat without adding anything to other aspects of the game (like diplomacy, culture, tech). Stardock wants to make it fun to play all the different paths to victory, not just military conquest. I remember tactical combat as it existed in MOO2. It was cheesy, tedious, and the AI never did a very good job of defending i
