zubaz, it did give a warning. it said files int he folder wold be overwritten. i assumed it meant files with the same names would be overwritten not EVERY file. i'm fairly certain i've lost all my pics and docs. i will try your suggestion regarding public folders when i get over the anger i'm experiencing now. i have to admit i'm pretty aggravated over the skins being stored on the SSD by deafult. i know for a fact i could put wb skins on a secondary dr

i'm sad to say i don't. i'm pretty distraught right now. quite a few of those pics can't be replaced. i guess it's my fault but why would tweak 7 feel the need to overwrite what is already in a folder? what advantage is there to doing that? btw, unless i'm missing something, tweak 7 doesn't move the public folders which are where wb and ip store their skins.

oh yeah, it worked. too well! when it said it would overwrite files, i assumed it meant any files with the same file names. nope! it wiped everything in the folder! all of my family pics, important docs, and everything else! grrrrrrrrrr. doing a system restore didn't bring any of those items back, either. i'm not a happy camper at the moment. right now, i'm slapping any old drives i have in the docking station trying to find one that may have copies of these items.
Quoting Zubaz, reply 16If you move your user or program directories to a different drive through Windows you can.Can this be done? If so, I'd be interested in knowing that trick.
me too. i can move my user files rather easily. it seems to me moving the default install directories would require a reg hack which is something i'm not willing to do at the moment. i remember trying to move these directories back

jafo, having the page file on a platter drive does no harm. with the amount of ram you have, you'll notice no difference having the page file on a drive other than the sys drive. also, i have a UPS and hibernation isn't needed here. speaking of your 590, i just got off the phone with a guy who is buying a rig that is the best one i've built yet. intel i7-2700K, 32 gigs of corsair vengenace ram, 240 gig corsair force gt ssd, 2 wd black 2 tb hdd's, corsair obsidian 800D

hey frosty! the last time i installed wb, it had to be on the boot drive or it didn't work as it should. to be honest, i don't want the skins on the boot drive either. as much as i HATE not using them, until WB and IP allows the app and skins to be on a secondary drive instead of my SSD, i won't install them. i want to use Stealth OS! anyway,........frosty, i hope you're feeling better and life is good for you these days.

i just picked up a 240 gig corsair force gt sunday. i'm slightly surprised as to how much faster it is than the 120 gt it replaced. the trip to indy was fruitful in other ways, too. i also got an ipad 2 at the apple store and ate at Five Guys for the first time. i gotta tell ya, a Five Guys cheeseburger is worth the 80 minute drive to 82nd street in Indy.
