I use the default settings for the AI. So I have two at pure evil, two at pure good, one at chaotic good, one at chaotic evil and one at neutral. I never have any problems in moving any of them to "close" and then alliance. It really depends on your "diplomacy" rating. But, you should be able to brive them with a tech each three turns, or 10 bc for 50 turns and that will keep them at least neutral if not move them to friendly.
Basically you're just registering that game and in the process it changes your whole players info over to that new registration
Correct. When you get your new SN, go to the metaverse page and at the left you will see a button to register your player. Enter your nickname (player name) and your SN.

Mods can have pluses and minuses. Those that are approved are balanced as much as possible. Remember that any mod can be used by the AI, so if it benefits you, it will proably benefit the AI so it is hard to generate a mod that only benefits you.

At the beginnins of the game, adjust the three sliders so that all is going into military. This will build your colonizers. Adjust the spending rate to 100% and the tax rate until the approval rating just drops below 100% and then back it up to be 100%. This will give you the best starting point. You should be able to play at these setting through colonization. After colonization, move the military spending to zero and the research to 100% and research the bassic starting items. Lo
As far as game submissions? Ha! Turn some good hacker loose on it. There are lots of them, especially among our youth playing games like this (duh). And as far as assuming I'm talking only about JUST submitting games? Think twice. I'm referring mostly to off-line playing without giving a frell about submitting for a ego boost or whatever! And on-line submissions? C'mon, it ain't aways so easy to protect such given a good hacker or "Loop Holes" missed by the system as another mentioned. [/
especially if using rigged custom maps)
Rigged custom mapps will not submit. The only custom maps that will submit are those made by Stardock. If you make your own, you can play them, but not submit them. You illustrate again you don't know what you are talking about.

I have found that the more planets you colonize after 3-5 slows you down as you don't progress as fast. My quickest games have been with either 2 or 3 planets. I have even won with a single planet, but then you have do everything on the single planet and that slows you down. Actually, 4 is ideal in my opinion. this allow you to assign the other planets minor wonders and Trade Goods that only affect the entier system and same those that affect the planet developing them for your home planet.

Mace, I just went to the GC II site and logged it. In the first forum, I pushed the button to add a comment. When that page comes up, scroll down to the bottom to the empty message block, just like the one I am typing in now. Type you comments and submit.
1/2 hour on max difficulty? Malarky! Ain't no way, even if you know what you're doing - unless you're cheating or do a random map with planets on rare for PQ, have only one opponent, then get very lucking in game map layout and have soom questionable mods running or are using a special user made map with your own home planet's influence set unrealisticly too high.

Does giving other civs random stuff make them like you more?
Yes, you can keep them friendly, you can move them to close, etc. I always give them something almost every turn. I try to give each the same tech since they trade among themselves and if you give them different tech the soon have all yours and you can't give them any more.
Check his games. How can he complete 2 or 3 games per day at the masochistic level with a gigantic universe and win evrey one of them with exactly 60,000 points. It is impossible. He has obviously found a way to enter the same game over and over. Please have his score adjusted acordingly and look in to some other top players as there are other suspicious looking streaks, just not to the extent of our scaming leader. Some people will never know the great feeling of earning a win. Think abo
at higher levels of difficulty does this game kind of devolve into limited if not singular style of play inorder to win (like, in my experience civ3) or are all options for victory realistically available?
All styles are still available, but the AI gets a lot of help at Maso level so most people evolve to alliance victory while building no military at all, just relying on starting bonuses, e.g, using the political party, Research, Inc. Welcome Capt Apollo and fhqwqadshq (how do you remember what to type? :) ). You will find a lot of help in the Strategies forum - button on the left. Also, some of the empires have collections of strategies for various levels that are useful. Joining an empire also is beneficial and fun. Lastly, if you have any question, or just like to chat, chat away.
