Our suites have their own bathrooms, and the floors are coed, so that's not a problem. However, if you don't live in my building, you need to be escorted by someone who does. That means that your card will get you in your building, and no other. If you have a friend in another building, they have to let you in and walk you around. It's supposed to keep strangers out. And, I realize that people will be "carrying stuff in", but that isn't why they are propping the doors. They 1. don'

To answer questions about Toad Suck... Yes, there is a Toad Suck Park. It isn't much of a park, but it has big places to run and play, picnic tables, grills, pavilions, swings, slides and the usual basic playground stuff. It sits on the Arkansas River. On the other side of the river, there are camp grounds. Every May, we have Toad Suck Days (Or Dayz). Bands play, people get "stuck on a truck", and lots of other stuff that makes downtown Conway a nightmare to traverse. It's

That was certainly the way I read it. Personally, I like that idea better. It does make more sense. I wonder if I can find any good Toad Suck Days shirts to share...

News vans came to my campus yesterday. I thought they were here to cover the diversity march or the AIDS rally. Were they? Nope. They were here to get our opinions on the VA Tech shootings. I don't know why they picked us, but they sure did. But they weren't content with asking questions and getting responses. The journalist on scene was teaching people how to act scared, upset, angry etc. She was coaching people to say things like, "They should have shut down the campus

I think my biggest bruising problems come from 1. my klutziness and 2. my fitful sleeping habits. I hurt myself in my sleep all the time. Just ask my ex... I'm pretty sure he got some bruises during the night. We started putting pillows between us to protect him and to keep him from cuddling with me. Of course, looking back, I'm not sure he didn't deserve a few more bruises... Sorry about your bruise. Those are really not fun. This test is leaving a tiny bruise it looks like, but

I went for some blood tests today to see what's wrong with me. (Yes, I know. There isn't a test or a cure for being a geek) The last time I had this done, the nurse who drew my blood poked me three times, wiggled the needle around and hurt me so bad I thought I was going to throw up, pass out or both. I ended up with a three inch bruise going down one side of my e

That's a good idea about checking how he's sleeping. I've done the same thing before. I will look into that. Is your mom very stressed? Have you had problems with your thyroid? Heh, I would love to lose some weight. I have lost 37 lbs. since I had Izzy, but I still need to lose 12 more just to not be overweight (12 lbs won't make me "skinny"), and it does seem like the weight loss is slower and more difficult than last time. But it could just be that

That last video deserves this one: WWW Link Of course, that last video might mess up what they're trying to do... (I post this in humor)

I'm afraid books are my life -- my entire life. I collect rare books, I study fantasy as a hobby, and study a more classic cannon for a living. I am what the Germans call a Leseratte, a "reading rat". I've never been a big fan of anime, but I have seen some very interesting studies into it. It may not be my cup of tea, but I can understand how other people would love it. Thanks, SanC. Since I pretty much have May off, I'll take that as an opportunity to read some of your

Poor little guy. I remember what it's like to have problems in the doctor's bathroom. I didn't quite make it before I threw up everywhere. Not quite the same, but still pretty embarrassing. I hope he's ok. Maybe he's developed a strange way of sleeping that's hurting him so much. My mom did that with her hand. She couldn't figure out why her hand kept hurting so badly, until she woke up and realized she was clenching her thumb inside her fist causing so much strain. I'll keep m

SHE - A monkey wearing a hat huh? Did you hide a camera somewhere on my desk!?!? HOW DID YOU GET THAT PICTURE OF ME?!!? Yeah, I just found a cute e-card with that image on it. However, I'll have a new mental image of you every time I read something of yours...

I am a bit surprised that they went back on it. Unfortunately, I am not. My job is so difficult because my university is spineless. If you make enough noise, or have your parents call, you can get any decision overturned. They bitched, and they won. Of course, the complaints about "These people who don't live here and are using our laundry machines" will continue... but if you try to fix the problem, and it inconveniences them in the least, th

As most of you know, I have a love of Fantasy Literature. However, no matter how I fight and say that fantasy literature is worth academic study, it is not a proper area of study for an English major. I have had to relegate Fantasy Literature to "pet project" and "hobby." I'm ok with this, as I love all kinds of literature and I fear that being forced to work at fa

Well, the students got their way. The Student Government Association complained, and now the doors are back on their regular lock-down schedule. All the crazy people of the world are now welcome to come back into our buildings again. Oh yay.

I wear nothing but t-shirts. Everyone keeps telling me that I'll have to grow up some day and buy "professional grown up" clothes... but I'm holding out as long as possible. I don't know if I 1. have any t-shirts I could willingly give up or 2. have t-shirts anyone else would want... but I look and if I do, I'm game.

It's always a pain to be the mature and sensible one, isn't it? Ahh...sometimes people just don't freakin' listen to reason... ~Zoo Fortunately for me, my staff is wonderful. They're very careful to white-out, cover up, or take down anything the residents write or do to make me feel bad. I don't even know what all they've whited out recently, though I've seen the white out marks, I don't ask what was written, and they don't tell me. And there

I have this weird theory that Draco Malfoy will have a change of heart and sacrifice himself to save Harry. I know, it sounds pretty weird... I actually don't think it's that strange. A few books ago, the Sorting Hat's song implied that the only way to overcome the great evil was for all of the houses to unite. While having Draco turn from the "dark side" may be a bit too Star Wars, it is still a good possibility. After all, he couldn't kill Dumbl

I love JKR because she takes the old fairy tale structure and inverts it. The typical fairy tale / fantasy story follows a certain structure, "1. A prophecy is made concerning the hero. 2. The Hero is born. 3. The Hero is abandoned / an attempt is made on the Hero's life. 4. Skip childhood and go straight to adolescence. 5. preparation stage. 6. Entrance of donor." and so on and so forth. All of these things have happened to Harry Potter, but we

Well, thanks for telling me about it anyway. Also, this is pretty funny. My professor sent this to me over Facebook: "Thanks for being everyone's punching bag today -- that took a lot of guts. Seriously. You held your own pretty well." This was because I basically told everyone in my class that their immature behavior leads to the need for surveillance cameras in the hallways. That and they are responsible for their own safety, because I'm
