I went and, as predicted, it was worthless. Even my boss thought it was stupid. All the kids walked away saying, "Why did we show up to this?" But, I won't get fired, so that's good. I even got dressed, but that's mostly because it's cold outside and I didn't want to freeze. I must say, I didn't want to leave my room all day today. 40something degrees, rainy, windy... perfect day to curl up with a good book.

I called my mom. Seems as though they were expecting to pay my first month's rent since they know my current pay schedule. Mom was impressed that I had already taken care of so much, and had gotten all the information she was going to tell me to get. Wow, I might actually BE growing up!

Since I got the email telling me I was accepted into UofA, I've been setting about getting things ready for the move up there. One of my best friends is already living up there, and told me there was an open apartment in her complex. The complex is within walking distance of the school and downtown. It's really nice because I wouldn't have to use my car much at all

I agree. I'm all for finding the great women writers of history that have been left out of the traditional cannon simply because they are women, but that doesn't mean adding crappy women writers just because they are women. And I think it's interesting to see how women are portrayed in the literatures of the past and of other cultures, but to force a feminist reading on every book and poem is going way too far.

They may be morons, but they are morons raising their children to buy into that advertising as well. When you grow up hearing "You'd be so much prettier if ______" it's hard not to believe it. And that's probably the saddest part -- little girls, and boys for that matter, growing up thinking they aren't worthy of something just because they don't fit a certain glamorized standard.
