As long as this thread has been revived, the issue remains with version 1709, which is the version I'm currently running. SD support believes the issue is resolved with the Fall Creators Update, but I've done everything I can to delay/avoid feature updates in self-defense (shoutouts to Jafo & DrJBHL), so it may be a while before I can confirm whether it is indeed resolved with the FCU.

If you've modified any of the Windows Update 'features' with Group Policy Editor (available with Pro version only, I think), it will give you that message; at least it has here. It assumes GPE is managed by your IT department, I guess, even when it's just you.[e digicons]:\[/e]
As regards page rendering, Brave has been by far the best I've used, flawlessly rendering every page I ever visited and very fast. Its Achilles heel, and the only reason I don't use it as my daily driver, is it doesn't handle PDF rendering internally well and breaks my daily workflow which involves viewing & editing PDF's regularly. That's based on its version from 6-8 months ago at which time it wouldn't accept the Adobe PDF plugin, so things might have changed. </

The short answer is 'No'. Application updates are not available after a subscription expires. Stardock can't anticipate or take responsibility for what Microsoft does with Windows updates. There is simply no way to 'future-proof' such software. If a Windows update breaks an SD app, you'll have to have an active subscription to access the fixed app when made available.
