I was about to suggest you just log out of ODM & log back in, but when I just now launched ODM on my rig, it found an update, downloaded it and promptly disappeared. It seems to have uninstalled itself as the StartMenu link no longer works and I can't find ODM anywhere. Which leads me to my next suggestion, that you manage your apps through the MyAccount page of the Stardock Store. It's just as easy and can't uninstall itself (I'm guessing).

I suspect the overwhelming majority of purchasers of consumer rigs will never know what's going on so MS isn't going to make things easy for those of us in the minority who pay attention to these things. It won't be 'free' on a new rig. Wonder if OEMs will continue to offer Win7 as an option once W10 becomes the default new-rig OS? Hope so. Surface Pro 3 was in my plan but not so sure now, unless the ability to maintain control over updates is preserved in some fashion.

No business should be forced to make such changes unless they determine it is in their best interest. And the business's IT folks should be making that call, not MS.

This is worse than the behavior that resulted in IE being separated from the OS. You'd think they'd learned from that experience, but maybe all those perps are gone. Absolutely terrible decision to give the end-user no control whatsoever over updates. And to essentially tie access to the MS store to acceptance of the EULA. Just imagine Apple doing the same thing with iOS.

Best I can determine, it is now only available as a component of an Object Desktop subscription. Was at one time a standalone app (was even free? at one time), but does not appear to be available standalone any more. SD mods - please correct me if I'm wrong on this.

My bad - should have been .209 in above reply. Version listed in Programs & Features is .203. Go figure. Version 14 was still there, too. Nuked 'em. Thought the plugins were browser specific, though. iClarified glitch turns out was coincidental - site displays normally now with Flash gone.

alaknebs - Don't see a way to uninstall Flash in FF, it's just disabled by default (.106). Going through the FF process of updating the plugin runs to completion with Adobe offering up .206 but after installation is 'finished', FF still shows .106, disabled by default. .206 installed in Pale Moon without a problem, though. Since disabled voluntarily, but it did install.

A little irony to this story (at least, mine) - the site where I saw the article announcing Mozilla had disabled all versions of flash, iClarified... wait for it... must rely on Flash for a bunch of its content, because of bunch of it is now missing with Flash blocked.

Mozilla has just blocked ALL versions of Flash. Just tried to update my Firefox plugin - will not install .209. Article up at iClarified about Mozilla's decision: link Disabled .209 in Pale Moon, Chrome & IE since the Mozilla folks appear to be quite serious about all this.
