The current release version of Firefox is now my preference after using Pale Moon for at least the last couple of years, maybe 3. FF is now seems faster than PM and handles PDF content flawlessly - PM was having chronic issues with properly displaying/opening PDF's that had gotten really annoying. FF, Disconnect, Adblock Plus and Flashblock & all is good (I figured out how to enable HTML5 video - not sure why Flashblock blocks it by default).

Looks like Uvah said he had updates set to automatically install. 68 does seem a big number if that was indeed the case. Updates can come for other MS applications at the same time, though, not just OS updates - I've had updates numbering in the 20's not too uncommonly between the OS & MSOffice.

Bears repeating: Climate 'science' is not science at all. It's speculative number-crunching, glorified video gaming, pseudo-science at best. If 'models' fail to at least approach reality they are useless, and so far they've failed spectacularly. 'Peer-reviewed' means nothing when hypotheses cannot be tested, let alone falsified. Could not be a better example of GIGO.

The point is new machines are/can be infected with spying capability, turned on by default, in BIOS. Won't matter what OS you use. MS cuts a deal with the hardware manufacturer, like the NSA most likely already has, & the OS itself has to do nothing you can see to monitor everything you do.

MS will figure out that spying via software, where it can be easily 'seen', just ruffles too many feathers. It'll take some collaboration, but they'll move all their spying efforts to firmware at some point.

People are letting their lack of imagination get in the way. When each grader took the place of hundreds of workers, we didn't need 'social engineers' to help them. They just figured it out. And progress happened. Dystopia is a world full of 'social engineers' if you ask me.

You can manage your apps at your MyAccount page at store.stardock.com. Most would recommend you go there and download all the apps you've purchased or subscribed to; should your subscription expire at some point, subscription apps will no longer be available online, so local backups are highly recommended. ODM is convenient but not required.

I don't believe any EULA prevents a judge granting class-action status to a lawsuit in the US. In the same sense that a doctor is not 100% immunized by Good Samaritan laws against lawsuits for negligence, EULA's can't fully immunize a vendor. Such 'conditions of use' are also counter to common law and historical precedent. The lawyers who write the EULA's know that, but they put crap like that in there anyway.
