While you could use ADO in the script to access databases you'd use that primarly for DBs on your desktop such as Access or a DB Server on your LAN such as MS SQL Server. Most online stuff is either exposed as web pages (in which case you need to screen scrape it to get the info you want without the graphics) or as an XML interface (either homegrown XML specification, XML-RPC, or SOAP).
DXscript uses Microsoft' ActiveScripting technology. Scripts can be written in any language implemented as an Active Scripting language. This means VBScript and JScript. ActiveState also has an ActiveScript implementation of Perl as well.
Joe, if you mean a DX script that retrives info from the database in the form of XML, then no there currently isn't one. However the Newest Additions list that you see on the right side of the WC web page is exposed as an XML file. There's DX object that download the XML file, applies XSL on it and outputs the result on the desktop as a dx object using the IE Web Browser control.

Jafo, English is indeed my first language. It's also my optional language . So techincally I could fall into that challenged category. The problem is I tend to think in images and the rush to translate it all to text often results in a flurry of disjointed phrases. "Food good. Fire bad. Me kill Mastadon..."
