Souls of Mischief - "93 'til Infinity"?!?!? I only know about 3 people who actually know that song. That's awesome. I love that track. When I mention it to people when discussing hip hop, I usually get a look something akin to a pig looking at a clock....

Well, I done been gone for too long. I can't believe it's been two years since my last Random Ten post. I'll try to get on here a little more, but havin' two jobs and pumping care packages to Iraq on a regular basis have kept me a touch on the busy side. Enough excuses. I'm gonna try to ease back into the Joe User community slowly. So, to start off, a simple edition of my favorite game: Random Ten. For those that aren
I sit at my computer tonight....after many, many glasses of wine. I am licensed to sell real estate in the state in which I live. I am very familiar with the current situation. In fact, I bought my one-bedroom condo at the height of the boom. Despite paying extra on my mortgage, I am currently upside-down in my property, due to the turn in the market. Should somebody come "rescue" me? No. I knew what I was getting into. In fact, because I knew
I have a weird take on this I guess. I worked in an office where the IT guys were just part of the team. I had a really good friend, who was a Computer Science guy (BS in CS), and we worked side-by-side on a training team teaching analysts how to use a data visualization tool. He is a true CS genius type (writes PERL scripts for fun). It was a chore to get him to wear a collared shirt and decent shoes (Vans were his shoe of choice). I can tell you
Grey, it is truly a rare occassion. I actually disagree with you. I really LOVED most of the public transportation in Korea. When I was in college over there, I could have acquired a car had I really wanted to, but it just wasn't worth it. I can tell you that the system of 2000 is by far superior to the system of 1994, when we got over there. For one thing, the Pidulgi train (the crappy one that stopped at every podunk), is no longer in service.
I remember the old M.I. pic showing a guy with headsets on with a dialogue bubble that read "I think they said it sucks...".
You mean FM 22-102 "Wall to Wall Counseling" is no longer an accepted manual in the modern Army? Makes me happier every day that I got out when I did......
Grey - As soon as I read this, I remembered the guy in our unit in Korea (not gonna name drop, but his last name began with a K). I remember a bunch of us had to deploy up to the forward locations when our link when down, and his wife called the freaking unit to INFORM us that she wasn't allowing us to send her husband. I couldn't freaking believe it....and that wasn't even for a real wartime deployment. More like a one week TDY. Unbelievable....</
Most retirees die after 10 years of retirement I don't doubt you may have read this somewhere, but I highly doubt it's accurate. My father retired from the Army with 22 years in 1990. He then did 15 years in the private sector, and socked away enough loot to fully retire at the ripe old age of
Also, you usually get to take your 401(k) assets with you when you leave, regardless of the number of years of service (at least all of the capital you individually invested, plus the percentage of the employer's contributions that you are vested in at the time). If this same scenario carried over to Greywar's scenario, then you wouldn't have to do the full 20 to get something. Sure, you'd have to do 20 to get your "full" benefits, but you could roll
I'm lucky in that I'm only using 4 systems, and 3 of the 4 have the same user ID. Not sure why they decided to change it for the 4th, but alas, so sayeth the government lords. I'm able to have the same password, that I choose, for 3 of the 4, so that isn't too bad either. But, I ALSO have to log into about 10 different online databases, analysis tools, and community pages. And each of these, because they are created/maintained by some dif
Grey, glad to see you back. Sorry I haven't stopped in sooner. Thanks for the good insights as always. I struggle with the PC monster myself (working at a gov't agency and all), and it just isn't all the fun that's it cracked up to be.... I gave a 1 hr presentation of my 6 week trip to Iraq to a group of co-workers when I came back. I showed pictures of some of the bombed out buildings, and noted that these were the sites of so
I think I have a copy of FM 22-102, Wall to Wall Counseling, if you need it.......
Alright, it's been forever since I've put anything substantive on here, so it's time I got off my butt and did something... This has been a pet issue for me for a while, so I'm going to spout off about it now. Similar to Greywar, pseudosoldier, chiprj, and a number of others on here, I am/was in the military, and I am/was involved in the intelligence field
Bro, sudoku is the shit. If you like that, you might like the FTU MA FTU MA games that they have in Korea. They publish a little puzzle book every month or every other month, and it's called "Lotto". It has the explanation of how to do the puzzles. It's a math/logic thing too, and it makes pictures. They're pretty cool. I got absolutely hooked on them when I was going to school in Korea, and now I've got my Mom and my daughter hooked on them too.

Good tracks you got Chip. I sense a trend in preferred style though.... .... I'm still waiting for some of the really off the wall stuff to pop up on mine.....
Okay, a new episode of Random Ten. Here are the first ten tracks playing on my iPod this morning: 1. "Life" - Haddaway 2. "Roadhouse Blues" - The Doors 3. "Bad Boys" - Inner Circle 4. Okay, following in Soul Man's footsteps, I'll start posting the Random 10. Essentially, this is a little list of the first 10 songs that are played on your iPod in shuffle mode. It can be a little interesting to see exactly how eccentric people's music interests are. So, without further ado, the Random 10 for 14 July 2006: 1. "Don't Pull Your Love" - Hami
IT'S ALIIIVE.....! Hey bro, hope all goes well with the job. My organization is still trying to get a presence established down there. If that ever happens, I'll keep trying to find something for you with us. Congrats to EL on the promotion. Shout at you later amigo!
Sorry I've been away so long. Circumstances have conspired against me, and prevented me from being more active here (that's an excuse...I've just been lazy). At least I'm doing better than Greywar...not sure which side of the Earth he fell off of... Anyway, my wife and I went up to Atlantic City this past weekend. It was a first time for both of us. We
WOO HOO! I got one! 4 2 Makes a Pair
Well, I'm in Iraq right now, and I'll admit that I've seen samples of both groups - those who don't want to be here, and those that do. Not sure if it's a huge majority one way or the other. I know that the one SGT who is actually supporting my team's efforts here is not only not in a rush to get back, he is actively looking for a way to stay here longer. He believes in the mission, and loves being able to do real-world stuff (as opposed to washing
