I agree with KarmaGirl that we give out licenses WAY too easy in this country. I know in the DC area, it is really bad, since there is such a large immigrant population here, who come from a variety of countries with all types of different driving laws. They bring all types of different habits with them, many of which aren't overly conducive to smooth traffic patterns, if you know what I mean. We joke about bad Asian drivers, but I'll tell you, I ra

Grey- Thanks for the shout out. I'm still pretty sure that you're listening skills and Order of Battle knowledge outweighed mine by a factor of 2 or 3. I definitely enjoyed the mission, and tried to do good work, but there were many guys better than I ever was. I can't wait to read part II... since I never really served anywhere else, my concept of normal operations is the level of work we did back then. I'm interested to see what you found along

Wow, I'm amazed COL. Just when I thought you had managed to come up with a thread that wasn't based on our involvement in Iraq, you go and prove me wrong. Good to see you can't get past this issue. Oh, and glad to see you still have not responded to the fact-based rebuttals yet.

Wow, I guess the BBC isn't a valid news source anymore. Because, according the them: "Mr Hu said China was willing to take action to end the illegal copying of goods ..." and "...a US aide said China was to buy 70 Boeing aircraft." The whole article can be found here . So, I guess that 70 Boeing aircraft, at a few million dollars eac

Just got back yesterday from a week-long business trip to train some folks on the software I work with. Not the most fun I've ever had, but it was better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. What made the trip really worthwhile however, was getting to spend some time with an old friend, whom many of you know as Greywar. I haven't seen him since sometime in 20

Grey - good points. Tova - I understand your points, but I don't agree. I think that your third point is the most legit. The first two rely on the author telling the "truth" of what happened. Nobody will admit they were involved in a conspiracy, etc. etc. If you want to find out the "truth" behind incidents like these, you need to read books written by critics (from both sides) who have a strong historical/journalistic research background,

Okay, I'll preface this and let everybody know that it is going to be a petty rant on my part. This "issue" has been irritating me for the past week, and this morning I got pushed over the edge. One of my primary duties in my current position is to instruct a visualization software application. Anybody who knows me (all 3 of you out there who read this),

Okay, between the dozen or so family members from both sides of the family that were there, we have literally hundreds upon hundreds of pictures of our wedding. We haven't correlated all of them yet, but we've gotten a good group together. I've gone through and picked out some "good" ones, and put them up in a Yahoo photo album. Anybody interested can check it out

SPC N.S. - as Andy mentioned, I'm a former KP. I spent 3 years at the Hump. This past trip was spent mostly up in the big city. We stayed at a "Motel" near Yaksu subway station, but travelled around and about Kyonggi province. My wife's family is from Inchon, so we spent some time out there, and then lots of travelling around the city - Chongro, Itaewon, Insadong, Gangwhamun, etc. We also spent a couple of days down around the Hump visiting some f

Okay, this is gonna be really short, and isn't really of much value. But, I know I have a few friends who stop by once in a while, and they've probably wondered if I've died or something. Not quite, but I tried. I went back to Korea for two weeks to participate in a traditional Korean wedding ceremony with my wife for our two year anniversary. My father and some o

I find it amusing to see such widespread extreme liberalism. This is truly a benefit to the conservative side. I think that a ton of moderates see this kind of stuff, and it pushes them further to the right, out of disgust to the extreme leftist view. There are some extreme rightists out there too, but in nowhere near the numbers (at least not that I've seen anywhere)... We'll see what kind of effect this has in the 2006 and 2008 elections....</fon

China's current political system is really holding them back. As long as that continues to repress the Chinese and other peoples and stifle innovation and creativity, there's no need to practice our 'kow-tow' just yet. I'm not sure I totally agree. I think you are right that the current system stifles

Okay, this is going to be a bit of a long entry. Like many people, I'm a little concerned about the price of gas/oil these days. There are lots of ideas as to exactly why this is happening, and the why of it all isn't really pertinent to my entry, so I'll leave that for a different thread at another time. Anyway, I was discussing the current situation wit

I think Grey and Texas Wahine are really getting at the same point, but differing on some of the semantics in how they expressed them. I agree with you Grey that people are responsible for their own actions. I'm a HUGE fan of personal responsibility and accountability. I think that if you screw up, you should own it. I also think that if you do a great job, you should get the reward, and not necessarily have to share it. You wanna bust your ass an
