Well, we gathered up all of the relevant paperwork and information to make our case, and my wife called Sen. Allen's office this morning. His office has a dedicated immigration assistance specialist, who was very nice, and at least tried to be helpful. She informed us that we should have applied for the renewed work permit more than 90 days in advance, and that BCIS

Yeah...that one is a bit better than you waking up on your couch...... the "uninhabitable, untouchable" couch that your freakin' pugs pissed and shat on regularly......

Yeah, except that I think that SFC PotatoChip was more of an individual fuck up, rather than a system fuck up. She screwed over a few people that I know in her tenure in her position, yet when others have been in her shoes, things have gone better (not always perfect, but much better). My nightmare seems to be pretty system-wide in this agency. I don't think the left hand knows what the right hand is doing, and honestly, I don't think it cares. I'm

Careful Greywar! Remember, the anti-Bush/Cheney/Haliburton folks might hear you, and Lord forbid that anybody would say anything positive about a Haliburton subsidiary. The only thing we are supposed to hear is how they overcharge for their services and products, and then don't even always deliver. You might burst their bubble if you start revealing that they do an AWESOME job of it, which is why they get single-source non-competed contracts. Nobod

Yeah...it blows my mind. I mean, I really couldn't give two shits if it took 12 months to process the paperwork, if they let me apply for it 12 months in advance so that it would be done on time. I serioiusly think that this one is going to become a letter to a congressman or two. This is just horse shit....

Okay, for those that don't know me, here's a personal bit of information: my wife is an immigrant (or LONG term tourist as it were, since she hasn't attained permanent residence status, much less U.S. citizenship yet). We met while I was going to college in Korea, fell in love, waited 2 years for the opportunity to be "co-located" again, at which point I dragged her

A little after the fact (of greywar's deployment at least), but this is a GREAT post Chip. I too count my true friends on less than 2 hands, and oddly enough, more than half of those friendships go back to DLI or Korea. I think that we've been blessed to have crossed paths with some of the friends we have, and to have such a close-knit community is pretty amazing. The only other guys I've seen that are this tight as a community come from the SOF dom

Sorry it took so long guys. I don't know what the major malfunction was, but every single time I tried to start a blog, I got a nice little JU message saying that the site was being "updated", and to please try back later. Oh well, it's done now.... Now I just have to think of something witty to start a good fight with....j/k.

Well, after a few weeks of repeated attempts, Joe User has finally deemed me worthy to have my own blog. I will use this site to rant and rave and share ridiculous bits of info. I'll try not bore, though I'm sure I'll offend some. Oh well, life's a bitch. More to come after the NFL playoffs!!
