Updates - Example: If the box version is 1.00 and the latest (or on the SD server) is 1.5 does the box serial number work for the download. Just expanding on the ramifications of your "if you see it for less, go for it" comment. If not, then you would have to find the update elsewhere - yes?

Now I'm confused - is IP accumulated and spent every Dec at the UP, so that in the example above you will have 12,000 at the beginning of Dec and 0 after the meeting AND there is some off-screen "bank" where all of the IP's you have ever accumulated are totaled for Influence boundary determination purposes? I thought/assumed that the Influence boundaries were based on the relative strength of the civilization's planets, attenuated by the distance from those plan

The AI maxed out the total $ amount at 6 months. If you didn't need the cash all at once, that was the way to go. It wasn't abuse, not any more than the rental rates by government contractors were. It also allowed you to make deals when the AI was a little short of $. I will miss the flexibility.

As much as I liked DS9 (as well as the other STrek shows), I never forgot that they were designed for the general television audience by folks well versed in maintaining a generally political correctness in their attitudes. (After all - the primary purpose of any TV show is to attract viewers, sell commercials, and make $$ - not generate continuing controversy.) The show maintained a pervasive anthropomorphism in that all races were, under the skin, just like us. Whi

Seriously, consider 2 things- 1. You can't invade until you have achieved total air/space superiority. The inferred tactical advantages are overwhelming. 2. You are at war with a race of beings with whom you have very little in common (Objectification of the enemy will be MUCH easier than with another human - and quite frankly [& unfortunately], we humans have very little trouble doing that) AND they are fighting for their

You have to: 1. Download/save Stardock Central (latest version) and install it on the home computer. You may want to input the appropriate serial #'s in Tools-Settings-Games after installation. In order to get the update(s) in the first place you need to have the Serial # input on the downloading computer. 2. Download/Archive the update to a selected Directory (Tools-Settings-Advanced)and save it to CD or Flashdrive, or other sneakernet appliance off the connected com

" hex style map that is old school" There's a reason that hex maps are used - the hexagon just happens to be the best 2D figure for approximating linear movement in any direction without having to resort to actual calculation/measurement.

I mentioned something along these lines over on the thread about 3 wpn types (which digressed to use of fighter-only tactics): To pick out the pertinent piece, [If fighter-only tactics are unbalancing] ... could effects on the (global) home front be implemented? - morale[/approval] decreases as no "local heros" ever come back, economic/ effective population reductions as eligible draftees (and possibily their families)

Another way would be to take advantage of the coordinate numbering system - either: 1. Determine the path the freighter would take (in GC1 it was diagonal then either horizonal or verical) and if any of the coordinates match an enemy territory boundary (you only need 1 match) send it somewhere else. These boundary coordinates are already calculated for the display lines on the map. 2. Do 2 checks - a. Is the destination within an enemy territory, if

A couple of comments to Star Pilot's post above - By having to keep building new ships and losing them you are incurring an economic penalty vs maint costs and losing the opportunity for the crews to gain experience Depending on the distance they have to go, you are impacting your ability to fight prolonged battles and to maintain force projection in an area (influence effect?) If these are not sufficient to balance the play, however, co

I haven't had the opportunity to really play and find bugs - particularly since the last couple of versions came out, so I am restricting my comments here to the tech tree - in particular to the titles of the various weapons systems. It may seem picky, but having names that
