That is absolutely impressive

Here are 3 things that folks can do to heighten the awareness of the retailers: 1. Actually place orders for the game if they are not on the shelf (and of course finish the transaction when they come in.) 2. Send a letter or Email to the sales dept of the chain to the effect of: " I am a (regular / consistant / or some other term for how often you patronize them) customer of (chain) for my gaming purchases. When I went to your store in (location) to find Galacti
I had a lockup that required me to Task Manager out of the 3rd campaign. Didn't have Smart Exception loaded at the time and couldn't copy over the Windows error report details. System is a 3 month old Dell 610. Here is the Debug.err info: Debug Message: Version v1.0D-1 Digital: Bonus Pack last updated on: Fri Feb 24 12:35:33 2006 Debug Message: *********DXDiag info follows.********* System Info Time: 2/27/2006, 20:25:40 DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.0
Nice work
So far, having a good time with the game - but to answer the call.... Suggested Tweaks: Reitierate ability to go to ship design - outside of game? - and design using all techs/hulls to set up sequence without taking time from game. (Edit - Just saw Duel of Gods workaround) Ability to save games & other files somewhere other than My Docs folder - have had issues in the past with XP profile corruption which also FUBAR'd the My Docs folder. Add a field in
It's a bit early to give a comprehensive review, but... Graphics are great except for some minor flickering of cursor and cutscenes Shipyard is a bit tough for us aethesticly impaired folks to use for "good looking" ships - but since the game only worries about what's on the ship, basic building works fine (besides, as the Admiral or even the Emperor I only worry about spec sheets - fitting this stuff on the ship is what minions are for <img src="http://
It's 1535 Central time and the servers are so tied up that the games folder on SDC is a perpetual flashlight. And then doesn't indicate an update is available
You mean *Terminus*, not Trantor, don't you? Depends on whether you want the 1st or 2nd Foundation - Harry developed his theories on Trantor and then set up Terminus to shorten the Dark Ages after the fall of the Galactic Empire - Great series
Archive .AND. then burn to CD/DVD. IME all computers sooner or later crash - offline backups are only prudent (and saves on the weeping & gnashing of teeth )
"rub it in the faces of the general public that you are playing the game prior to retail release, provided you do not disclose any aspects of the game that are not considered to be public knowledge and have not been provided to the media in an official press release..." LOL <img src="http://images.stardock.com/sd_com/smil
Is there any way to change the location of the savegame files? I really try to avoid the use of My Docs - had a profile corruption one time that FUBAR'd the entire subdirectory under Docs & Settings (XP pro SP2)
FEEDBACK: I had the problem earlier of only seeing the galciv2 beta files in the demo section even after downloading the new SDC around 4PM. Went back out at ~ 6PM and was prompted to reload the SDC that I had loaded before - restarted SDC and saw the Galciv2 files back in the purchased section (old TGN #) with the new files. Download went great - main files at ~ 850KB, Tutorials started at ~1900 then @ 25% went to ~ 1500, same for movies and redown
One of the best hard-core SF books I've read is Robert Forward's Dragon's Egg . Any collaboration by Niven & Pournelle is good reading as well. For farce and a view of political correctness taken to extremes see Keith Laumer's "Retief" series. And if you REALLY like punny reading see Piers Anthony's "Xanth" series and Robert Aspirin's "Myth" series ( Myth Adventures , Hit & Myth , Another Fine Myth , etc.) I better stop here before I get long winded. <img src="h
Postulate to Murphies law: Murphy was an optimist. I always knew this as Brian's Collorary to Murphy's law Better polish up the old fiber-optic lines & tune those multiplexers - that withdrawing tide of traffic is the sign of 'something this way
Good Stuff Backstory info - is both entertaining and hopefully an insight into the AI psychology
You can design ships, but you cannot add new components/hulls to the game as I did with the "Orbital Platform" mod I demonstrated Thanks for the clarification
Well, it is impossible to fleet starbases with ships That's an idea - couldn't the Orbital Fleet Mgr work with starbases as well?
Question generated by the "Planetary Defense" thread - Does the term "no mods" include no different ships than are in the basic game? Or can you use personally (or by someone else) designed ships?
I forget how I found out about the GC1 demo - liked it, went looking for the retail version, found it about a year & 1/2 ago. Then found out about Stardock Central and Dregrin.net/TGN. Joined TGN last year, never looked back. Been a wargamer for many moons - cut my teeth (so to speak) on Blitzkreig and other AH boardgames... Opponents come and go, but a good AI is always there to keep you on your toes.
Third Griffin's question - even if we were latecomers to the beta.
One of my main Laptops is a Dell 610 with "Mobile Intel(R) 915GM, 910GML Express Chipset Family"(from Device Mgr). Will this be an issue?
I'm glad I live in UK, sounds like too much of a hassle No, you have to pay VAT on most if not everything - which is more than most if not all of the US sales taxes <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class="mb-Body-Quote-Tab
How does one access the California server??? SDC Tools-Settings-Internet has a selection box
Well Said! Particularly the part of avoidance via reload of a save game. The idea is to pursue a well thought out strategy and see how it goes - having an unavoidable/undefendable monkey wrench thrown into the mix detracts from the challenge.
