Am I seeing things, or does it look almost 3D? It looks to me as if the view is like it would be if seen from a particular point in space, with what was a flat view GC2 curving away from the viewer as it approaches the edges of the view.

I find it highly unlikely that they will return as race (major or minor).
Don't forget how much Brad likes to surprise us. What Brad said about the Darth was "The Drath homeworld was wiped out. But the Drath aren't necessarily extinct." After he said that, can we really believe that the Korx are extinct?
Oh, WOW. Is this discussion getting philosophical fast. I can remember lots of articles on the mechanisms of earth that minimize heat loss into space, so I suppose the idea that heat gets propagated into space has to be a given. That said, I have seen a lot of scientific misinformation that so many of us have unknowingly learned get propagated, so I think we all have to be very careful about the credibility of the source of our knowledge.
You should take a look at the back story. It states that the other races sent out sub-light drones over many millennia to map the galaxy. While there may have been some coding practicalities in the past that required this in the back story, I think changing the back story is not something SD would do even if those practicalities have been overcome.
On the text, perhaps and perhaps not. First, the basic story line must (self evidently) be a continuation of the back story, GC1 and GC2. That is a lot of text. I am well aware of the temptation to programmers to copy text (not code). The question I am asking is whether they want corrections to their base text or if they want us to wait until we receive some of the GC3 set. The choice is theirs.

And it sounds like you did what a lot of people did with GC1 & 2, adapted what it had to fit your needs and desires and made it enjoyable for you. I have faith (in fact, I am certain) that SD will give us more choices in GC3, some that some of us will love and others hate, but all of which we will
Tyrantissar, these designs look quite impressive, and I think your creativity deserves praise, but have you any information about how far along SD is with the whole project? I would imagine that major features like main map design and planet view design has already been done, and that they are well into coding such major features. Perhaps they should hire you for the first DLC effort. Keep trying and maybe they will notice and do so.

As a retired programmer, I would have to say that the hardest part of converting GC2 into GC3 would be the change in addressing mode. Been there (x24 to x31), done that, wish I had done a complete rewrite. Kudos to SD for making the hard choice.
Agreed that one dimensional morality is pretty lame, how many dimensions before its over complex and un-useful?
Or for that matter, overwhelming to the gamer? Not to worry, SD has in the past been very good at finding a good balance.

Michaelwhittaker, this is getting too far afield from what I understand to be the purpose of this forum, but let me try to answer your questions in minimum terms, so as to redirect discussion here to what this forum is for (and my apologies to all for being so nit-picky about the difference between Ram (to which the game will only have indirect access, through the OS), virtual memory (which is mapped by the OS to Ram and Swap file space, and is what the OS gives the game for its code and data

I am wondering if Zydor is misinterpreting what others are saying. He seems to be thinking that everyone wants to eliminate the strategy aspects of the game.
The only thing more Ram will do is to reduce the paging rate. The game may check on the amount of Ram available and use that as a throttle for map size (and perhaps graphics quality settings) but almost no app references Ram directly (and most that do does so as sparingly as it can). It gets at it through tables that the OS sets up and maintains. Also, the Ram available is shared between the OS and the running apps.
