Jobeleca, I wouldn't worry about color depth so much as the physical dimensions of images. Your MDI and dialog backgrounds and your start panel places list image, for example, are pretty large (maybe 200x200 pixels) and they are just a solid color. They really only need to be a pixel or two to get that solid color to tile. The start panel user pane (top panel) is also much wider than is necessary to tile it. I never really used Beatnik much, but Sysmetrix is running all the time. I still have ICQ, but I seldom use it. I do most of my chatting with MSN messenger or on IRC. It seems most of the people who are on my ICQ list now use MSN as well. Trillian always seemed too bloated and buggy for me, although I haven't tried it in months.

When new skins are posted, they have no rating. A moderator must give it a rating when they approve it. Updated skins appear in the same que as new ones, so it's possible that a moderator gave it a rating out of habit, without realizing that it already had been posted and rated. This is not necessarily what happened in this case, but it is a possibility. I know there is no automatic mechanism that would change a skin's rating when it is updated. The WindowBlinds skins will work on any version of Windows (provided WindowBlinds is installed), but most of the newer ones include additional bits for XP. Xp is not required, however.

You shouldn't have to make any special changes to your network settings to access deviantART. It's just another website on the Interenet. If you can reach this one, you should be able to reach that one. Perhaps they were having network issues when you were trying. Maybe you should empty your history and temporary files. Windows themes only change your basic desktop icons, not all of your icons like IconPackager does. Windows cursors cannot do half the things that CursorXP supports. Windows visual styles are in a format that is protected by the operating system and doesn't allow new ones to be added, hence the need for WindowBlinds. That's called a subdomain. You don't pay extra for that, once you own the main domain, your host just has to set up DNS records to point to those subdomains. I'm not sure how deviantART does it on the fly like that. Theirs are set up the moment that you register.
