Ok, here is a tech question... hope someone can answer this because i am at a loss. my system had 2 GB's of ram (4 x 512MB) and I just bought 2 GB's of ram (2 x 1GB's) and went to replace 2 of the 512MB sticks with the 1 GB sticks to give me a total of 3 GB's of ram from the original 2 GB's. After installing the ram I started the system and went into BIOS and noticed that my BIOS said that I had 3GB's of ram installed but only 1.7GB's ram available. I updated the BIOS a

I was going over some of my posts and realize I never answered this. Just an update for future viewers. yes, excluding the application from skinning within Windowblind Config worked just fine

Again, let me reiterate, I understand about all this, but I think there should be a standard set forth. I’m not trying to knock the artist, but I think as a community and WC being the base for this community we should establish certain criteria for these to make the choosing easier for us downloader’s.
Call it incentive for the downloader to do a little skinning on their own.
Trust me, if I had an inkling of talent or know how I would make an attempt, but no
Go to the folder where DX stores the information of widgets(generally .. C:\Documents and Settings\'User Name'\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\DesktopX\WidgetCache ) Now Delete the folder which shows the name of the widget creating problem. Remember that you are deleting the information stored in the widget.
for Vista users you will find it C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Stardock\DesktopX\WidgetCache

great, im gonna try these and see what happens, thanks bilbo and daveRI. Just one question the cache for the widgets is not located where the xp cache is, so does anyone know where in Vista its stored at? i am going to look for it but maybe you can say before i find
To me a Vista ready skin is one which has some Vista elements skinned, like IE tabs etc, but not necessarily all of the Vista elements. There are thousands of XP skins in the library which do not have all the XP parts skinned, mainly icons and animations. Would you say they are not XP ready?
I understand completely what your saying but I would consider the start menu a magor visual aspect and I would consider that an incomnplete skin. Just as anyone would with the XP sta

I hope someone can tell me how to fix this. The errors are coming from DesktopX Theme - Slider desktop By bilbo1930 & DesktopX Widget - Slider cpu-mem widget By I.R. Brainiac Here is a screenshot with the obvious errors. Understand i have not made any changes to any system setting from the time I started using the desktop until the time the errors started. I used this desktop for about 3 days. [img]http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d187/The__Goo/tech%20support/slide
All submissions get previewed and tested (unless your access level is high enough), some times by several moderators before they may be released to any library. If any submission is 'turned down' an rejection email will be sent to the submitter, with reason(s) why it was rejected.
Then the moderators should be more deligent in thier rejections. Because, a skin to be reased with such obvious flaws (regarding Vista only), shows that the moderator is either not looking

Ok well, I had a brain fart and realized we don't have PM capability here. Didn't feel like splattering thier page with this. So here goes it. Blue and Grey - By HALBEN, Woo - By Imzadi, Xandro - By Imzadi, Cezanne - By Imzadi I'm not trying to be an ass here, I just think that the Vista ready needs to be more controlled i guess. Not that its that big of a deal but whwen you do a search for Vista ready skins and have to sort through those that work and those that

well now that i had to go back and see exactly which skins were actual and or not, it came down to one submitter and I guess i will pm that person, no need to target just one guy. It looked to be a lot more than it really was. My bad.. But i do think that the Vista label needs to be more carefully heeded.

What are the qualifications for a WB skin to be considered Vista ready? Does anyone know. I have noticed a few WB skins being classified as Vista ready in my opinion they are not. The main issue I see is that the startmenu on the skin does not support placement for the search box and the icons on the top do not appear and change with the mouse over effect like the default skin does. I have seen a few skins that do niether and are labeled Vista ready. I can see how the skinner might be confus

Well I must say money has now become the motivator for the developers and the skinners alike. This little bit of news could easily be seen as warning that the cost of Object Desktop and the individual software components are about to have a price increase. It’s not hard to see Star dock charging 50 dollars for Windowblinds, DesktopX, Icon packager, etc. etc and 100 to 200 dollars for the Object Desktop Suite. I have to say that the community is changing. Since customizing the GUI

Ok my problem is that I went to my subscription page and wanted to download the RIP theme and the WC Select Theme because I recently reformatted my HDD and went around collecting some of the materials from WC. Now, when I downloaded the RIP theme, it asked me to where to save it and I did, but when i tried to download WC Select, it did not give me the option, it just started downloading it to a temp folder and when that was done it opened "MyColors" and it did not show. Can anyone explain that

why when I submit a wallpaper, it does not show up on the main list. When i go to edit the submission I notice that the "show on my page only" box is checked (I did not check this box), then i uncheck the box and then update. I have done this once with the "Check to reset Update Date. Only check this if your skin has a major update." checked and with out. But it still does not appear and if i go back to edit it the "Show on my personal page only" box is checked again. When I submit a

The Plus feature is a rip off, I mean the only useful feature on it, is the coloring and the resizing. Ridiculous to charge 20 bucks for just that. . I mean really, I bet if you ask around you will find that most users do not use the special effects and the trails. Most users do not want to be distracted but that stuff anyways. I think they should include the resize and recolor in with the standard release and ditch the Plus features. Besides there are a lot cheaper ways to re

Well I guess I will be the first to comment on this one. The "Five Sci-Fi Scenarios That Will Come True" is not very informative. These scenarios are way too obvious. The article should have gone deeper and let people know that many techs such as those in "Star Trek" are possible. The only thing that will not be possible is flying through space faster than the speed of light. Traveling through wormholes will be the only way to travel. The reason why is first, if you were to travel t
