It took me all of three minutes to do what I describe in my post, Shotti. :) If you have the time to post your unhappiness, and we've taken the time to try and help you, then maybe you should take the time to make the change needed to be happy? [e digicons][/e] I agree it needs to be fixed at the company level, but we've all found a workaround and it works. Good luck to you!

Ah, thanks for the heads up, Oh Bass Master. :) Yeah, part of the problem appears to be that SDC thinks you are updated just fine when running 190.033 via Impulse, so it won't allow an update/install. So the full uninstall from Impulse (and reboot) is required before re-installing via SDC. Fortunately, the settings are still there, so it was entirely painless. The taskbar is not HISTORY on my setup once more. [e digi

Okay, I was able to get it to work thanks to a combination of what people have said above. 1) Uninstall OD+ 190.033 from within Impulse 2) Reboot 3) Using SDC, install 190i[b].020 4) Run OD+ from the Start menu etc (wouldn't run from SDC directly for me). 5) Be happy. :) I manually made sure "Enable MCP notification area support" and "Enable MCP SmartStartup" are CHECKED in the SDC/Tools/Settings/General tab, but I don't know if that is re

It may also depend on the codec. MPEG2 dreams should play on anything and everything, since the built in hardware acceleration has been around for a long time. MPEG4 is hi-def and takes up a lot more CPU, even on more modern cards. I'm just speculating, though, so I will leave the real answer to the experts. :)

I uninstalled via Impulse, then reinstalled via Impulse, and when I try to select the system tray option in the dock settings, it tells me "System tray functionality is not currently available for 64-bit versions of Windows". So, I'm running Vista Ultimate 64, what did I do wrong? Do I need to uninstall from SDC or something? Thanks for your help.
I have a question for the wise people here. Which of these would run better with Deskscapes on a Vista rig? The Nvidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 128MB , PCI,sm4.0 that came with my new PC or nvidia GeForce 5200 agp 256MB
Both of these are insufficient (re: crap) for your needs. The 6150SE is just an integrated graphics on the motherboard chip and the 5200 is ANCIENT by contemporary standards. Neither of these will be good for games O

So, Mighty Programmer Neil! [e digicons][/e] I am now testing a technique I've used in visual effects using this awesome dream and it's working quite nicely! Before I reveal it, I wanted to know how easy would it be for you to add... A ) a random rotation checkbox, so that each sprite/triangle/polygon. It doesn't need to be animated over time, just setting an initial rotation from 0-359 degrees would be enough for my needs. But I'm sure som
In addition to the crazy cool settings that wblinds created with a bit of hacking you can work your own crazy stuff into it.
Hehe, I was going to email Neil about allowing us to pick our own sprites, haha. So now I've bought it and found the images to swap out...muhahahahaha! [e digicons]}:)[/e]

I put this up for November just a few days ago, so I thought it was fair game to post it here. Left - Winamp with ClearOne skin and CD Art Display for art and lyrics (modified Celluloid skin) Middle - Wraith Master Skin

The folders not remembering settings in Vista is the same damn bug they had in XP and FIXED. I just love that no one bothered to actually LEARN anything from previous OS mistakes/bugs...ahem.
I use Teracopy insted
I just tested Teracopy (v2b4) on a high end, 64 bit, gigabit ethernet, Sata II machine. I found it was as much 50% SLOWER at copying than Vista SP1 across a network but about 20% FASTER from local hard drive to local hard drive. It does allow pausing and resuming, etc. so that's nice, but most of my manual copy operations are across my network. Thanks for mentioning it. An interesting program to be sure.
most OSes simply try to level out the CPU usage and pay more attention to how much CPU an application is taking rather than whether it's in the foreground or not.
The affect is the same, however, since an active foreground application will be taking cycles on one core, which will cause the OS to load balance secondary operations on additional cores. XP/Vista/7 do an excellent job of spreading the wealth around evenly.
It might be more accurate to sa
