I don't think ObjectBar supports TGA does it? It certainly doesn't deal with alpha-channels. Bars are either transparent or visible using magic pink (255,0,255) to determine what's visible or not).

We are getting quite occasional betas internally we just haven't been releasing them (we probably should so that people can see that things are progressing). The current internal build has RSS feeds as a native feature. We are also trying to incorproate color and spacing controls directly into ObjectBar (instead of relying on the skin).

There was some pain with the original 3.0 build on some systems. We never were able to figure out why our new DLL (which let people change certain "unchangeable" icons) caused havoc on some setups (so we ended up having to remove it until we can do more study on it). But at this point, IconPackager 3 should be pretty rock solid.

I'm afraid not. PocketBlinds is essentially dead. The lead developer of it got hired by Microsoft and the project has kind of got dormant. The other issue is that Windows CE (Windows Mobile or whatever the latest name) goes through fairly rapid and significant revisions that would make it very difficult to keep up with the latest version.

It sounds like other icon packages are not setting the .psd file and so as a result it puts them back to the default. I am not sure if there's an easy solution to this. What you probably need is a new feature in which you could set certain extensions to not be affected by icon packages.

I don't know if anyone's created a widget or docklet that reads the temperature. Temperature reading isn't a standard feature of any SystStats. Most of them require a specialized driver in order to use.

I think Neowin changed their RSS feed recently. Try the Neowin Gadgets at http://www.desktopgadgets.com to see if that works. If it does, then it just means that the Silica RSS reader's Neowin link needs to be updated.

We have seen the reports. It would be helpful to know WHEN you get the problem. https://forums.stardock.com/?ForumID=181&AID=84422 No mention of OS, hardware specs, etc. Since it works for most other people, it's a question of finding out what is different about your setup and other who are affected.

Microsoft anououncing that it will soon be supporting gadgets begs the question: Did Yahoo have any idea that Microsoft was about to get into the mini applet business? On September 1st, the future of widgets and gadgets seemed all but settled. Developers would go with Konfabulator. After all, it was free. Sure, users would have visit Yahoo and download Konfabulator first but it would be a free download. Stardock's strategy was on

idlexdeviant - that's a ridiculous assertion. What IBM trademark do you think ThinkDesk and ThinkSync violate? Go onto google and type these names. I agree that they may have to rebrand them before release but that's pretty normal. Theme Manager was once called "Convergence" for instance.

In my last article, Rewriting DeviantArt history Link I talked about how Scott Jarkoff, the main founder of the art site, DeviantArt, was unceremoniously terminated. After my article, somebody else posted a link to a leaked email http://probingthetruth.blogspot.com/2005/08/subject-truth-about-deviantart.html that gives rise to some serious questions as to the

Editorial: deviantART is possibly the most popular art community on the Internet. Its community has been friends with our community since the beginning of this site. Its adminstrators have hung out here and WC's admins have hung out there. With milliosn of visitors a month, dA seems on the precipe of huge success. But last week, the company that owns deviantART fired the popular community founder Scott Jarkoff (

In the last couple of years computer users have heard a great deal desktop mini-applications called "widgets". These mini-applications come in all shapes and sizes. They come with the ability to both jazz up the user's desktop and make it more functional at the same time. Many a desktop screenshot these days is littered with calendars, clocks, stock tickers, and more all thanks to the popularity of widgets. Even Apple
