Many WinCustomize.com users use Macs as well. MacOS X Tiger has a new widget enabler called Dashboard. But as Mormegil pointed out, Dashboard has some limitations with its widgets. Link . But thanks to a new program called Amnesty, Dashboard widgets can now run on the desktop much like Konfabulator or DesktopX letting Mac users decorate their desktops with Dashboard widgets. If

Well you know, Mac users come up with everything, even retroactively.
I've run the Windows 3.1 DesktopX theme, it's eerily accurate.
What I do in those cases is IMPORT the widget into the DesktopX environment and re-export them with the "allow multiple instances" checkbox checked.
IconX is a seperate program. Though it still needs some work to fully be on its own.
I know this is boring but there is a lot of diamond's in the rough for DesktopX that could be polished up. For example, Martin's drive light widget is very nice but it's kind of ugly: http://martin.wincustomize.com/viewskin.aspx?skinid=80&libid=34&comments=1&SID=37&UID=325 Would be nice if there were more good graphics designers out there who could look at this stuff and make it..well easier on the eyes.
Martin's widget will do the trick.
This is a good usability issue for us to look at.
Yea that's a pretty bizarre thing. It's as if there's a widget or theme that is trying to read another drive. I've had this problem with widgets that assume I have a D:\ drive on my laptop when I didn't. I just had to get rid of the widget to make it go away though.
Do you have a link to an example one? I'll give it a try.
DesktopX Pro betas do come out, just not quite as often.
IconX and DesktopX in the current betas still do have a problem. It's being worked on in preparation for DesktopX 3.1 / IconX 1.1.
I've not seen this. But I'll ask about it.

I would suggest uninstalling DesktopX and reinstlaling. Global Time.exe is a widget included in there. For some reason, it's not finding it. Sounds like a bugaboo with the server's per-user updating system.
It shows up here. Check to see if you have DesktopX Helper.exe in your DesktopX directory.
Bakerstreet, I think the point others are making is that what you object to is legally murky. Jafo/Frogboy/others do not necessarily agree fan art is illegal. Somebody making a Superman wallpaper, even if it is a derivative is not simply re-distributing, unchanged, the intellectual property of someone else. By contrast, someone taking a program or the Orion icons is distributing the exact file of someone else unmodified. There is no fair use argument
What Jafo said!
Here's a site that has its own view on how computer UI might be done. Check it out.
WindowBlinds won't affect your games. But DesktopX can if you have widgets or objects that try to alert you.
What's the newest build you have and what problems have you had?
We are ALL Brad.
Is realism something you really want in a space-based strategy game? Because here's the thng, space is big. Really big. GalCiv designer Brad Wardell talks about what realism would mean to a typical space strategy game.
I've been playing World of Warcraft for awhile now in terms of calendar months but never have the time to put into it necessary to really getting up in levels. I've heard rumors that Blizzard is working on an expansion for this Winter. Anyone else hear about that? What would you like to see in such an expansion? <!-- Ju-A
