Shoggot - I didn't say anyone should leave. I said that these kinds of conflicts will end when the people who start them stop creating them. But I do agree with ya about the undercurrent of conflict between the freeware advocates and the non-freeware advocates. I use whatever is the best that I can afford. I don't care if it's "free" or not. There is nothing noble about freeware over commercial. Freeware doesn't create jobs or put food on people's tables.

He didn't say Brad is always kind. I've seen him not be kind. Everyone has days where they're not being very kind. But to use Shoggot's words, has Brad ever created a post calling someone a "fuckhead" (or Nazi)? Even as frustrated as he got with you (I must have missed that post) did he actall you a profane name or a Nazi? I doubt it. That's the problem some of us, particular some of us at Stardock, have with some of what's been happening. The moral equivicating of it all. "Sure, l0c cr

I agree too. But I also don't think the community should take the easy path of playing moral equivalence. Evil wins when only a few good people stand by and do nothing. The dissent we see isn't a case of one side did somethings and the other side did some things. The jier/l0c combo, aka 545 is the direct cause of the current problems. They are the ones who flamed Brad up and down DA. They are the ones who created the 545 vs Stardock thread. They are the ones who created the "Brad Wardel

Brad's discussed this several times at length in his own long winded way. Putting it quickly, what Brad wanted to see was Stardock put up the bandwidth and machines and let selected members of the community run the site. But Shoggot got too busy and l0c had, let's just say his own vision on what a skin site should be like not having an ICQPlus section, and quit. This left Stardock kind of holding the bag.... Since all the coding of the site was thrown into Stardock's lap, the

Crumbut, you only saw part of it then. Did you read Jier's post to Brad after Brad wrote the skinning primer? Here's a quote: " Deviant: ~jier (65.170.14.*) Date: 2001-10-19 13:24:59 what the fuck is this shit? not saying a thing about 545, LDI, soft ini?, i cant wait till 545 is back up, im making it my mission to make a FREE app for every ting stardock makes.. not just me but all te other freeware developers i can find.. your worthless brad.. and stardock is wo

Am I the only one getting a bit fed up with the Brad bashing? l0c writes an inflammatory post and we're supposed to cut him slack? Crumbut, I really enjoy your skins but where were you on DeviantArt this weekend when Brad could have used some support? Brad has done a lot for the community too. l0c calls Brad a Nazi and we are supposed to cut him slack. But Jier writes a post reaming Brad and where were you in defending Brad? You know, Brad has feelings too. And he gets blasted for little to no

Brad mentioned in another thread that the problem is mainly people who come here with their cable modem and then proceed to download 50 plus megs of stuff in a sitting. So the system that is gonna be put in place will initially target that. I think the 5 megs per month limit is more of a worst case scenario. I really don't think this site has much impact either way on Stardock's app sales. If they weren't downloading the skins from here, they'd just get them at customize or los
