It took me awhile to get the hang of it... but by sneaking around the AI I can get away w/out building up a major military power... but then again I am only playing dumb/average AI... game gets too hard for me after that... I like that... games SHOULD be hard on harder difficulties, that way I have alot of room for improvement ;)

Hey... I leanred alot about the social projects w/out it though... lol... I always relied on governors and never payed too much atention to what was going on as far as social projects... I will have a new method next time I do get governers(diffrent governers for diffrent class planets). It takes alot longer though... I should go get some sleep now :notsure:
I had the same problem with the details screen... then I did a full re-install and was fine... for a bit. When I hit detila for a class 19, 20, 26 and 28 it works for... but 16 and 17 don't(I don't have 22 or 18 yet...) I don't have smart exception(win2k) but I have the debug.err message(I copied it a few lines above the first error I saw...) Debug Message: Creating opening menu. Debug Message: MemMan: Unable to find pointer in GetBlockInfo. Memory system: DataMan ASSERT ER
I saved a game and when I cam back my upgraded Starbase turned to a non-upgraded starbase... also, the resource on it disapeared :(
I have been getting the same problem... but I have never been able to get Smart Exception to work... I just read the readme and it says it doesn't work with NT4 which I guess it means it doesn't work in Win2k.
I don't think this has been brought up before... but it was something I really liked with the OS/2 gciv that I was hoping would have shown up by now... It would be nice if you could change the planets indevidual as far as the work put on social/military/research. AFAIK the only way to do this right now is through the sliders in the spending distrubution but it would be nice if this could be done indevidualy on seperate planets. Other than that I am really haveing alot of fun w
I had the same problem on the sunday build with the anomalys.
Hey... wouldn't it be neat if the crew of the ship gained the exp instead, and you can move it from ship to ship?
It wasn't a plant class 1... it was 6 planets in one system and 2 od them where above 30(one was 44). If you ask me, I think the aliens would GLADLY take that planet instead of everything else. It had most my population in it. The thing that did work though was its moral was 1 in all the planets :(
A Terror Start will be nice on taking out those planets that arn't capturable :)
Yea... I had the entire star filled up... it was a really nice system, something like(after terraforming) class 22, 36, 44, 6 and 12 I think. They all had the same population b/c when I moved in people it devided it evenly between the planets. It was funny having a class 6 planet with over 200 billion people.
LMAO... I had a class 44 planet the other day(You gotta love terraforming!) that I brought upto over 400 billion population(muhuhuhu) and could have traded it for EVERYTHING the Alterains had. It was a great game, I used my other planets to build up huge populations, then I moved em onto the plant. This brought I few suggestions that would be nice: -Make it so u can input the number of people being moved on a transport. From my plant I could only launce something like 32 billion peop
If you have built a SB and you click on it, then click on the button you used to originally create it(it is still active) it will ask if you want to build a SB. If you click yes it resets your SB :( I did like seeing rhe SB take up more space once it was upgraded... I can't wait to see these things moving around and blowing up stuff :) BTW... Beta2 is starting to get FUN, I will play it more now :)
I just played 2 games.. one took me several hours the other one took me about 25 minutes... I fonnd out if I put the galaxy on tiny, make all the races good and put my research to 100% and only go for the techs that take 1-2 years I can give all the races my techs and they all become my ally with about 4-5 techs. King of strange, but maby the vakue of the effect for the techs should be dependent on how much time you put into them. My first game I finished like this, but only a
I thought the Excalibur was expensive... it was very powerful though... it was the Battle Star, I think, that was cheap, powerful and fast...
Ohh, never noticed that, lol... sorry. Maby I missed the intro somehow(not a bug, I probably just didn't notice it, I will check...).
Is there going to be some background for the forming of this galatic planets? I just think it would be kind of weird if all of a sudden all the aliens decided to vote on stuff, what if you have never even met some of the aliens. Maby it should be some sort of tech u can get that starts it off or something.
I got the third :)
Hey... you have to take that class 27(or so) from the original GCiv and just paste it in there like it was from GCiv1 from GCiv2... it was always so funny to see that planet, all the other ones were so diffrent and high detailed then poof: this cut and paste thing apeard... did anyone else remember this?
LOL, thats right... the SF docs need to be updated, once the summer comes and I am out of school I am going to work on a few things for SF :CONGRAT:
AFAIK there isn't going to be any MP mode other than the meta-server which is to my understanding a complex scoring/ranking system.
Heh, that would be cool. If there could be a limited archive of only threads that stand out as important news and information and such.

GCiv won't have races that die out in the first 20 turns AFAIK... Unless you put them on as "Brain Dead"(Dunno if thats in the new GCiv but it was in the OS/2).
LOL... I am sorry, but I had to give in to the good theme of doodle( http://doodle.quadrent.net/ )... it is Litestep theme... but I am using windows blinds and a desktop I got from wincustomize.
