Karmat, the odds are overwhelming you're using a 32-bit OS. Right click on your My Computer/Computer icon and select Properties. On Vista, it'll explicitly mention "System Type: 32-bit Operating system" (or 64). I think XP will also indicate it in a similar fashion, but I'm not rebooting tonight to check. You really really have to work to get a 64-bit version of Windows installed still (doesn't tend

Please note that you must have Stardock Central 2.46 Build 154 or later to install the WindowBlinds 6 betas. If you try and use older versions, it'll eventually timeout and give you an error about an invalid URL. We'll be working on that error message.

I kept off the Internet as much as possible the last 48 hours (except for #developers - and Brad and I both made sure it was clear it was to be a spoiler free zone!). Really weird experience. I'll bring my copy to the office for you in case you can squeeze in some odd moments.

Dear person who has been having problems with the WB5 enhanced versions that your "friend who hacked Office 2007 Ultimate" "made a crack for you". You have provided absolutely nothing useful here other than that [in theory] your buddy provided you with a crack to the enh version of WB that DIDN'T WORK. We have spent a great deal of effort with regards to WindowBlinds for the last decade that does not involve altering any "system" files on install/uninstall. And that inc

Ironic day to resurrect this, BP OMowe, given the announcement that Peter Moore was leaving Microsoft for EA ( http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=16826 and http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/exec/pmoore/default.mspx ). Unmentioned in any of the articles I read today (though I read 3-4) was that as the VP of IEB, he was not only resp

Spent more time than I care to remember today putting together emails for them and F-Secure. Kaspersky seems to have gotten their updates out already. This is a false positive. That file hasn't changed since 2005 (apart from being digitally signed earlier this year).

As of the 269.9.6/863 6/23/2007 11:08 am AVG update, it was still incorrectly detecting it. I've emailed them again this afternoon. And F-Secure for good measure. The latest Kaspersky updates seem sorted.

What's the version reported in Help / About? There have been builds of SDC in the past (113, I'm looking in your general direction) which then failed to auto-update the files, even if the version string was getting incremented. http://sdc.stardock.com/sdcentral_setup.exe has the current version of SDC (2.45 Build 150), though I believe anything past build 147 should also be fine. Please reinstall that and then attempt to update WB 5.51.

I believe they're rebuilding that 2 miles of 6 mile by the old office (to 275) for the 3rd time in 9 years. That road fails more quickly than plastic toys. Same with that stretch of M-14 from Sheldon to 275 they spent all last year on that has more bumps than a motel bed you feed quarters to. And the road by my place that'll be able to swallow a car next winter, since the state and local governments appear to be fighting about who has responsibility for it. Bonus: neither of

It appears an internal DesktopX Pro 3.5 beta has lept the wall and made a bid for freedom. That's part of the XGF framework for allowing DesktopX gadgets or .NET apps to be run as part of the Vista sidebar. I'll just break out the nets and tranqualizer guns and tuck it back for the weekend. Please continue to use the DesktopX 3.2 release instead. Kris
