Game's own forums = good. There's just a certain detachment in being made a subsection of somewhere else. It's a turn-off. Well said, DreadArchon . Whatever problems this forum may have (the only one I've noticed myself is with the paragraph breaks), it's still definitely preferable to being eliminated/merged with another forum. CivFana

i have been allyed with two minor races that declared war on each other two or three times in a game and niether asked me to back them in their war I didn't know minor races could declare war on each other. Never seen that myself!

I also didn't like the way he slagged off the tutorials. I thought they were excellent. I hate interactive tutorials, and performing a series of simple repetitive tasks when the computer asks me to. e.g. "At the bottom corner of the screen is a big button that says End Turn. That is the End Turn button. Try clicking it now. Very good, now you have ended the turn. Look at t

You forgot the Foundation novels: Forward the Foundation, Second Foundation, and Foundation and Earth Let me add one more both of you missed. Prelude to Foundation. And of course there are the Foundation novels and short stories written by other authors, noticable Foundation's Fear, Foundation and chaos, Foundation Triumph. Actually, a

Coincidentally, I happened to read the GamersDad reivew last night before coming here to the forums. In addition to giving GC2 high marks, it was interesting to read his "father's perspective" on the game. Once again, congratulations to Stardock are in order!

My great first love when it comes to TBS games would have to Star Trek, BTOF. Despite it's many bugs and interface issues, I will always fondly remember the "red alert" sound everytime my ships were engaged in battle. I also still feel that the cinematic battle scenes in that game are the best of any TBS game. Second that. Birth of the Federat

I hear ya Brad; I'm much the same way. The major reason I don't play strategy games in multiplayer mode very much is because I don't particularly care to play against people I don't know, and finding time for even just some of my friends to get together is difficult at best. But the other major factor is that I simply cannot bring myself to use a "cheese" tactic or known exploit, even if not doing so means the other player(s) beats the stuffing out of me--which they usually do. <img src="ht

Once SC comes out, you won't be hearing much from me for awhile. I plan to take time off work to...er...research the game play of that game at length. LOL @ Frogboy. Yes, I believe I may be doing some "research" as well.... Personally, I

I am aching to announce what is in the expansion pack because I think people are going to be pretty happy about what we're doing. Most of the features are not going to be the kinds of things people would think of at first. Okay, now my curiosity is well and truly piqued! I can't wait to see what you guys are going to be including. <img src="h

Yeah it's only MSN, but it's still nice to see the game get mentioned there. They didn't do their own review; looks like they used Gamespot's instead. Good to see they've finally jumped on the bandwagon, even if it did take them 3 months to do so.

So what does this mean for the new CPU intensive AI that was talked about a few weeks ago? Has that slipped off the radar? Frogboy posted in another thread that for the moment , not a lot of the AI can use the extra CPU power. I got the impression that this will be an ongoing effort, and that the AI will be able to utilize this ability m

Brad, will you be making the game available in CD form as well--even if it's only available for order through Stardock? For as convenient as it is being able to download the game, I still also like having a physical disk that I can put in a jewel case. (I'm strange that way.)

I just don't understand needing to use ctrl+N that much. Granted, I have yet to play on the higher difficulty levels, but I don't know that I've ever had to regenerate my maps. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I have yet to have be stuck with a truly terrible starting position. I always have at least a couple halfway-decent planets within a sector's radius of my homeworld, and that's generally all I need to get a good start on things. Oh, and I always play with stars set to the "w

I hereby proclaim this to be THE COOLEST FEATURE EVER. Second that! An automatically-generated AAR has probably been one of the 10 most oft-requested features in TBS games since time out of mind (or at least since I started playing them 10 years ago!). Man oh man, I suddenly can't wait for the expansion to be released now..... <img src="ht

For future versions, though, they could follow in Creative Assembly's footsteps and team up with publishers like Activision and Sega, whose execs will demand that each progressive release will be geared more and more toward the discerning and sophisticated 10-year-old gamer. By the time they come out with GalCiv 4: Hissy Fit of the Poopy Lords, which will require Mommy to

so great work and great job getting recognized like that. I second that. I commend not only Cari, but all the folks at Stardock and the GC2 development team. You guys have really done a heck of a job with this game, and deserve all the recognit
