Semaz/Ralan is never happy about anything. I think he is destined to complain until Sins either becomes 7DS or they answer of all his modding questions. I've actually given up on either one of those and most hopes for the game, but I really don't spend the time you do waiting for me to post to pull such zingers out of your hat. My opinion doesn't seem to matter because Goaway will spin it around to
XATHOS
Quoting Pat_22_, reply 38I want to know what that black planet is. It is very likely that it is a simple Barren world..
It is: Barren, Ferrus, Greenhouse, Oceanic . Unfortunately, this means that half the worlds have already been in the game for about 4 years via mods. I have no idea what they're doing to make them unique. <a href="http://www.pc
so $5 for new stuff that others might not have makes it so some can't play with others, right? Can't wait, 4 new things ... wow
It would trigger on and off no different as needed, probable.
143 gravity wells, About 80 actual planets.
Too much crap? That could be why.
More ominous news with the new DLC. I am really rooting for you guys so hang in there! This mod is awesome as I refuse to play vanilla Sins. Sad thing is my Steam account says I have only logged in 677 hours, all in Distant Stars of course! Doesn't seem that many hours as I get lost in Distant Stars and time has no meaning.
I'm also very curious about the new techs. Are they all directly related to the new planet types & speciialization options? do all races get essentially the same new techs? And of course as many have asked, are we talking 15 total new techs or 15 per race?
Best guess: it's probable universal for all races (tailored for each respective race) with 5 each.
Oceanic is a fairly standard planet concept. No mod "owned" the idea. That would be like saying command and conquer first added a tank and that every other game with it just made it canon. Besides, I'm sure their oceanic planet uses totally different textures and balance values.
And where in my comments did I ever say they stole the idea because a mod had it? If I ever used those words, by all means, show me with your bullsh
Awesome! I always wondered where is the Oceanic planet type, seems like an obvious choice..
We've had an Oceanic planet since Sins Plus for the original game. I'd say, maybe, 4 years now. All they did was make it canon. The greenhouse looks to be something new, but I have no idea what the others ones are. I'm worried that this'll fuck with the mods now. Maybe, t
Not too much. We are trying to make it less sensitive.
So sensitive... [e digicons]:fuzzy:[/e]
I wouldn't say it was productive, considering we have absolutely no say in the matter. In fact it is a pretty silly thing to argue about, we won't know who is right until Sins 2 is actually confirmed, and then we won't care.
We were arguing? Lulz. Debating? Maybe. Arguing? Not from my point of view. We had different ideas on speculation. That's it. Regardless,
Metaphysical question: if I was to poke DS, would it break? Obviously, not as quickly as 7DS would, but it's a good question...
Lets focus on the changes, and not stray off topic, shall we?
Way to kill a productive conversation that was related to the future of the game. Also, you're boring, and who the hell taught you to quote? Pfft, come back when you learn some forum etiquette, son.
I am very much aware of it. But in Sins' case I do not see a studio besides Ironclad making Sins 2.
Another studio already has with Rebellion. https://www.stardock.com/press/CustomerReports/Stardock2012.pdf Page 8 "Last year, we released Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion (82 Metacritic) which was c
I said I thought Sins II would be decided by Ironclad, you said Stardock had a role in that decision. I still think Stardock is just going to have to wait until Ironclad is ready.
Ah, gotcha. I'm not sure how much you are aware of the publisher/developer dynamic, but publishers usually provide the financing needed for the development. In this case, they help with both. As said before, they probable are work
We are not saying there will not be a Sins II. We're saying Stardock cannot make it unilaterally,
And I never said they would. That's a given. What were you guys trying to counterpoint over to begin with?
Anyway, while i understand that perhaps people at Ironclad wanted to try something new and different instead of doing Sins 2 right away, i would prefer if that new game was in a Sins mould, just in a different setting. You know, like historical/fantasy Sins on solid ground instead of sci-fi one in outer space. Castles instead of planets, mines instead of asteroids, armies instead of fleets, big strategic map...you get the point... as a fan
Or you can play/create a map that doesn't have a Pirate Base on it. Quick invasion works, too. Sweet, sweet sound of pirate death as they say their "arrgggggggg''s for the last time.
Not quite that simple, IC is not SD's 'employee'. While collaboration on a big project is beneficial for capital, the game is made with the IRON ENGINE and the boys at IC will need to put a big load of time and effort in a new engine.

But Stardock does not own the Sins of a Solar Empire IP. They cannot make a new game without Ironclad's permission
I think the decision to do Sins 2 will be decided by Ironclad games, not Stardock, since they were the ones that first made it.
According to the "State of Stardock" report, they financed and helped co-develop Rebellion. So, yes, they do have a stake on the decision. If Stardock wanted it, Ironclad would make it.
Just about the whole Gameplay section doesn't affect me one bit (other than updating/bugfixes) since I've already had many of those things changed. I'll have to rebuild my mod like many others, regardless. Also, can we see side-by-side comparisons of the old and new planet textures? I'd like to see the differences.
What's a Galaxy Forge d ? Also, isn't there extra content you need to use for DS related maps in the Forge?
I have buffing AOEs (based on roletype) on capital ships affecting small parts of the fleet in my mod. The AI likes sending clusters of frontline ships (including caps with that ability) supported by lots of LRFs. Works really well.
When I posted what I did, there was no mention of other factions yet. Regardless, I don't really see how this is different than the other multiverse/multifaction IP mods (especially 7 deadly sins) that's out there. I'm not sure how much interest you'll garner. Good luck.
Don't we have like 2 other Stargate themed mods? How is this one going to be any different?
Should see some of the wonderful Midwest weather we're getting here in Illinois. On a side note, I think I won the achievement for distracting the whole damn thread. :-p
