For audio quality, give iTunes a go. Has excellent decoders, just needs some tweaking EQ wise. I'm currently using WMP. Due to the skinning, but mainly due to it can mix my DRM and non DRM libraries together without a hitch unlike any of the other players.

I second the Expose function. Entbloess2 is fantastic, but development has stopped and there are bugs. But the features and functions I now have to use. That and Entbloess doesn't support Multi-Monitor.
Thanks for all your hard work on developing these apps
Just the usual magic pink across the top of the toolbars. I didn't post clearly in what I meant as the pink isn't visible in window blinds applied skins, but when you open them in SS. The main prob they can cause is shadows by WinFX apply its effect to the magic pink. Or maximising a window while having the toolbar at the top of the screen can leave a gap between said window and the startbar. <
Kind of on topic, but not, anyway, @Frogboy - will the automated drag in of msstyles (which is very good as of now) be slightly improved to remove the horrible magic pink that msstyles use to do slim caption bars? I know it would involve more image/colour detection, but would save some of us doing the usual after import tweaks with SS. Just curious, and Merry Christmas to you <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Smile.gif" border=0
What if it were possible to make "skinnable" widgets? They aleady exist. FTPDrop for DesktopX has skinning functionality built in. AveDesk's iTunes controller and FTPDrop are two prime examples. Kapsules Weather Bar and again iTunes controller. In fact only Konfabulat
Can't find the Snow Dock background anymore sorry.

Firefox is very good. Opera is better

Damn Unbeliever, I have a real hard time believing that is actually you and really hope that it's just someone using your name and being a REAL ASSHAT! (as is ScottK) Whoever it is really needs to get a life over this stuff. If this really is you Unbe, then sorry man, I have lost the modicum of respect I had for you.
He has incorporated the mem changes into the latest release, so it does look better in task manger. If your anything like me, you'll use what suits you at the time and meets your requirements in either day to day use or a change of theme/style as the mood takes you. I'm also a OD subscriber, but it hasn't stopped me from buying Konfab (owned it on the Mac anyway) for windows. Not because its better as such, but it gives me more choic
Trouble with IconX is that it doesn't play nicely with any other widget app other than DesktopX (inc AveDesk, Kapsules, Konfabulator) when they use send to back. I guess it's because it creates an overlay layer to display the icons (WIN key + D gets rid of IconX which is a bit silly also). Also running IconX without DesktopX hides your taskbar shadow which is provided by WindowFX2, which is odd and thought would have been noticed by others.
Double post as the forum didn't update to show the start of a second page.
Wow, shame this article got dragged down so much. Small update, Konfab is now using 2mb's per widget. They are cleaning up the memory much more efficiently (in terms of the all important task manager details ) I'd just like to say that DX has come across in a better light though thanks to Martin, Tiggz, and Mormegil. Their releases are making a dif
Have you considered a Sony machine. Again you get what you pay for and they are only slightly cheaper than PowerBooks/iBooks equivelant's. With Windows, if you really can't get used to it, can be made to look and function in similar respects to a Mac. It's customisation ability is Windows strength, especially for most of the users of this site. I use Mac's in work alongside PC's daily (and own/mod' both) and I know I couldn't just use a Mac
It's fantastic... but Steam!!! What are they thinking with that. It's horrible.
All good things come to an end. Always Foobar. QCD. That and I'm very suprised by iTunes 4.7. Resource usage is better and it doesn't del your files any more when you clear the playlist. (Used to even with 'don't let iTunes manage anything due to it sucks' setting on). AOL kills everything in the end, but if it wasn't doing well for them I can understand it.
They are the best suite of widgets... shame they won't work for me :( Just reset to defaults after 2 reboots.
Very nice article DZ. Does make sense. Windowblinds any which way you look at it, is SD's best customization software out of the entire OD sweet IMHO. Off-topic. Another excellent Expose clone (the best probably due to the developer) is Entbloess 2.5. Can't go wrong with this software.

Thing is when you get to it, that is the same for every library. How many "widgets" do you honestly need. 5 ish.. or 3,000. I say the former.
A heads up for new Konfab users... quite a few widgets require other parsing engines to be install on your PC. Usually PHP or ActivePERL. No biggy, but thought the info would be useful. EG. Mini FTPDrop requires PHP. Nice app, give it a go. Give them all ago.
It's very good. In a looks smooth and professional sort of way. Though the 72+MB's of RAM it's using for 6 widgets I'm using seems a little steep. Comparetively with Kaps (I'm writing up another article now this is out comparing them all, not against each other, just strengths and weaknesses) its has 8 widgets and uses 33MB's. DX is using 50 with about the same style widgets as Konfab, AveDesk with almost identical widgets as Konfab is using 12MB's. A bit unfair there as it
Well, just to let you know if you haven't tried... Konfab is very very good. Not in its ingenuity, or tech, but its polish. No denying that I'm afraid.
