Clear your cache & try it? Because it's not working for me on a clean start. If that's the case then a MoveFile or Copyfile command might need to be added? Ok That's refresh icons on desktop but not the wall Got to do some errands; so, not able to look into this until later. Maybe try a google search for "vbscript refresh wallpaper"?

I understand and know the feeling! FYI On a positive note this might be an easier way to run command line applications for all those interested?

There are limitations to what DX can do directly with the system, this is for security reasons. You may need to put it into an external script then call it using the run or exec command. Create an external vbs file call it refreshscript.vbs Place this code in the file: 'SendKeys script to refresh desktop Set WSHShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") WSHShell.SendKeys "{F5}" Set WSHShell = nothing Add it to your object as a custom file Th

Is it one particular theme or everyone? I use my own themes mostly. So, here are a few thoughts/suggestions. If it is the "actual" Windows Taskbar then my suggestion should be working, or try this way to access the properties: - (Classic view) Open Control Panel then select Taskbar and Start Menu. - (Category view) Select Appearance and Themes Category then select Taskbar and Start Menu. If what you are referring to is a custom taskbar that is part of the theme then mos

Thanks Z! Here's another one from that same thread at visualbasicscript.com. Direct Link to the thread Set WApp = CreateObject("Shell.Application") WApp.Namespace(0).Self.InvokeVerb "Refresh" Incidentally, I found that by typing vbscript refresh desktop into Google

You're Welcome! I wanted that a while back for another reason. PS. Found another Key Script at visualbasicscript.com Option Explicit Dim WSHShell, strDesktop Set WSHShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") strDesktop = WSHShell.SpecialFolders("Desktop") WSHShell.AppActivate strDesktop WSHShell.SendKeys "{F5}" WScript.Quit

Where? Turn off your ad blocker & look at Wincustomize! Stardock surface's on a number of occasions when I've done various customization & modding searches on Google. All of your ideas sound well grounded but, SEO & ad placement amongst other net tools is relative to who your target market is. For the average joe user this may work fine but, I'm not s

Stardock does do quite a bit of advertising. If you're talking about a more traditional media campaign that costs a substantial amount of money. In my last position for a regional (ie. Tri-city) company it was nothing to spend five figures and some months six without any TV advertising. Vista has provided a great advertising opportunity but, how to leverage or tap further into the existing Windows 2000/XP market is the question? Personally I'd love to see some sort of strategic partner

How would you suggest folks people give it a "go" I'm interested in your ideas. Ideas I have lot's of but, maybe that's for another thread? A few (non-financial) ideas off of the top of my head: 1. Work with local computer stores. There's a chain here called MDG that could add some value to their computer. 2. Offer some local course on customizing your computer. 3. If you're media-genic than maybe try to write an article for the loca

Last year Entrepreneur magazine (or StartUps) listed "pimping" computers as one of the hottest home based businesses to get into. That article peaked my interest because of my modding interests. I'm sure the magazine is kicking around somewhere as I'm a terminal pack rat. I really would like to know if anyone is making a go of this within their own/local communities?

Why don't more people customize their car? It's kind of the same thing and Brad had a good article about skinning a few months ago that explain it very accurately IMHO. Basically most people are happy with the way things are. To most of us in the community we can't fathom this, don't forgot that both Apple and Microsoft but, a great deal of money and time into researching this to arrive at the most acceptable solution. For some reason I'm thinking of the scene in "Fi

Here's my dilemna. I have 320 layers/objects that I initially created using images. The reason I did this was for visual verification of their positions. Now I need to change all of these layers to text. Is there a namespace/callback for this. I've tried the code below amongst others and haven't gotten anywhere. DesktopX.Object("C1.R1").States("").Text = "Insert text here"

Primarily, it's objects for me. I don't think widgets were over hyped but, I do think that many people just don't get it. Most people don't know about the underlying tools available to them that are standard parts of the OS. I'm still baffled by the number of people who sit in front of their computer while they run anti-virus/spyware/adware scans.

Boy, do I ever. Here's an example: Suppose do one of two things create & place a script in the startup folder OR autorun the widget to execute the script. Haven't got to that part yet. Experimenting with multiple columns, and a number of other nifty things.
