On load it automatically creates a new folder based on your settings. You need to change that the an input box or use environment variables to place it with in the current user's desktop folder or perhaps better my documents. Can't really look at the script as I'm in the middle of creating a 50 plus layer widget.

I like QT Tabbar lest I point out it's still under development. My problem is with it's button bar & some issues with other customization programs I use. Like the breadcrumb plugin, Styler Toolbar, and Folder2MyPc. Also, I would like to point out that UltraExplorer was developed to demonstrate existing components and is still under development. I'm pretty sure he's open to reasonable suggestions. In addition, though its skinnable, it just doesn't hav

Is there a way to show 2 panes like in Total Commander ? I had two working yesterday by selecting View|Windows|Listview when one tab was open but, can't get it to work today; so, I'm not sure if this was a quirk. Edit: Yes, this is the way to do it you need to look for the left-right arrow & drag.

David, I was writing my last resonse so, I missed your post. I can't speak for all but, I can say that you and Vad_M are the reasons that I've started uploading and "will" upload more non-conventional objects. Your tutorials have been a big help in that they opened up my eyes to further potential within the development environment. Actually, it's probably the main reason I decided to buy DesktopX Pro. Yes, I'm a paying customer and I suspect most developers have the pro version; so, th

There's a big a difference between what the average user wants or more necessarily accepts. Who is an average user? If the average user new how simple it actually is to get things done quicker using batch files or scripting WSH then I think desktopX would perhaps really explode. My arguments aren't to foster any type of elitism, heck I know how long it takes just to work on the graphics. If you look at my last release at deviantart it took me at least ten hours (conservative) to get th

Okay, I'll admit it. I haven't been one for using Explorer replacments but, rather trying to get the features I need/want via toolbars, plugins, extensions and pretty much anything else I can get my grubby little hands on. That has changed. Thanks to the Shell Extension City who featured UltraExplorer on March 12th I have found my new favorite app. To say this is customizable w

While understand the frustration with the weather widgets. I'm kind of split on this as my understanding is that a great deal of them are made to match window blinds. IMO skinnable widgets should resolve that?

Zubaz, I agree that fragmenting existing galleries would perhaps be more confusing. However, Gadgets are deserving of their own gallery for a number of reasons. One, sometimes you just want to show off your work not the underlying codes. Two, sample or limited versions would be a good segway to directing potential customers to desktopgadgets.com to purchase more powerful/feature rich versions. I think I'll do my next upload of the "Folder Maker" like this. The object will be a

Vad_M, I will put some of them here. I have a drop folder maker that is close to completion. You can make numbered folders eg. 000 to 999 or up two five (maybe ten)named folders in the folder you drop on the object. Another one in the works is a file sorter based on file type or date. I may release a limited script widget and more advanced gadget. The widget maybe would be all internal script and the gadget allows people to create and save config files (ini or xml).

On the other hand I'm find no sense to export some of my works into standart DX Themes because I don't want see how somebody hacks my scripts which I have been working more than 2 years... There might be away around this. There's an app called vbstoexe that I've been trying out. Just haven't figured out if it's a glorified packer or not. Certain scripts won't work which makes me think this is a little more than just a zip/unzip creator. Protecti

I think we all understand the purpose of desktopgadgets but, it seems to be somewhat dead amongst some of the other complaints I've heard. When there is a category for google gadgets and I imagine Vista is not far behind then why not for "the first" developer of these gadgets? It only makes sense.

Have you ever checked out AutoIT I have but, haven't used it much. It also doesn't compete on par with DesktopX. There's much that can be done with DestopX without any scripting. The average non-scripter would be lost in AutoIt. Sranshaft has built a number of gadgets combining both which sort of interests me.

Personally, I can think of a number of app's on my computer that can be done easily in DX by simply taping the FSO. eg. Folder/Directory Maker, File Sorting, Zip Archiving, A DX Browser for Archiving rarely used objects/widgets/gadgets into My Documents & browsing current ones. Lot's of ideas. I'm actually making a mini-browser right now. I loads up the DesktopX scripting manual and gives the user to cache the content to disk for offline use. Gl

To answer your question for real. Check at Rumshot (google it) it's by Andrew and creates a preview plus a screenshot. That's what I use for displaying my screenshots.

Overall it does appear to be a cleaner home page compared to the current one. For some reason I find it cluttered & scroll down to read the news or head over to the right side bar. On an unrelated note glad to see those art classes are paying off!
