For spore the whole game really was just the editors. The rest of it was so simplistic and shallow that they only real reason to get the game was for the editors. With Elemental the whole game is going to have depth to it so I think that if they were going to release any early demo it should be something that has a bit of the real gameplay in it and not just a small portion of it. Maybe a demo on a small map with either a turn or time limit? Just my two cents.
Civ3Fanatic
God this is starting to make me feel old. I remember when I first got HW1. Man back then those graphics where amazing! The ships and the ion beams and the explosions, you cant forget about the explosions. That and the Z axis was probably the most innovative thing in RTS that I have seen in a long time. Here hoping that we will see a HW3, and while were wishing for the release of sequals that will never come heres hoping that a Freespace 3 is in the works as well :)
Always an interesting read, thanks for posting.
Finally! I no longer have to wait for Homeworld 3 in order to have a sweet space RTS to play with... though I wouldnt mind if Homeworld 3 came out.
From what I've heard the new fantasy TBS that they're developing is going to have a graphics engine with sweet graphics but it will also be extremely optimised. Actually if you look in the update for 1.6 you will see that one of the new features that they did was to use this new graphics engine in galciv2 dark avatar so if your laptop can run that now I would think that you would be able to run the new fantasy TBS. Just look at the feature list for 1.6 https://www.galciv2.com/Journals.
Interesting how something like 2D graphics in a mini map can have such an effect on framerates in the game.
mmm... scotch
If you do get this game i highly suggest getting kyros hull mod. The mod makes it so that you can use every single hull in the game regardless of race. It also adds on tons of other enhancements that make it nearly necessary if you really want to get into the ship designing.
definently worth it but if your a person who likes tactical more than strategic this might not be the game for you. However i will say that this is probably one of my favorite TBS games out there and the lack of Tactical combat just makes it easier to control huge amounts of units in massive wars without haveing to fight each individual battle.
dont know who to report this to on gamespot but id figure taht id tell he devs here and maybe they can get gamespot to correct it but as of right now the 1.4 patch is listed under galactic civilizations instead of galciv2
well once you think of it what book/movie/ any creative art that has come out these days has not been a copy of some other artwork? all people do it either subconciously, purposely, or they truly want to create something original but they end up by accident being so similar to something that they never heard of that people accuse them of copying another creation i think in this case its more of the first reason than any other
when they tell u that u know its either time to A invade them B supply arms and weapons to anyone who is going against your growing threat...
quick question though what is exactly stardocks involvement in this project? are they actually doing any developement with ironlore or are they just helping out with the financial backing, distribution, and website?
you guys keep on making these good games and im going to run out of money and time... why does something so fun have to cost me so much!
yeah the humans are there own ai and is shared with some varitions with one or two other races and you can see a correllation between the races that do bad most of the time and those that use the human derived ai
how about you can make deals where you can say to an alien civ okay ill give u X if you quit putting your influence of planet Y with this agreement between the two civs that planet cannot be culture flipped by the opposing civ and maybe you can allow a very limited area of influence around the planet as well (one square in all directions or something like that)
political views aside i definetnly agree that the ai declaration of war should hurt alot more than it does now. haveing half of your border fleet destroyed within the first few turns of a war will definenlty up the level of the ai
if your getting that powerful an alliance i think that there should be a weekly tribute in order to make the alliance last while if you ally with someone who = your military strengh then its just for mutual defence also if you could ally with someone who is really weak you should be able to demand a per week payment for the military protection just my two cents
i have it on three already (gameing comp, home comp (had to install in on here when my motherboard for the gameing comp fried), and a laptop. i can still get all the updates perfectly fine without any hassel finally some company understands that noone is ever going to buy multiple copies of the same software to have it on more than one computer that they own
go to the download section and download SDC (Stardock Central) this will make it a snap to download updates for your games just enter in the required information and itll automactically download and update your game.
farms are extremely important economic base, one farm does more for your economy than an economic building (if you can keep all those people happy of course) usually for me i set one of my high quality worlds (usually 12 or above) as my economic powerhouse i build 2-3 farms (depending on wheather i have moral reasources or not) 4-5 moral buildings and the rest i just build the economic buildings one or two planets like this plus building one farm and a moral building on some of my plan
lol one of those ships will ruin any computers day
i really at this point just want them to make it starcraft was the first game id ever played and it has remained dear to me ever since that they've been giving the franchise squat after it got them so many sales is just beyond my comprehension
baby 3.0 lol what type of improvements will this one have over 1.0 and 2.0?
