!! wow, most times "full of..." doesn't end that way. Thanks !
Doreen: Really? Cool You can try out all the KEIs on me you like. I have a Barbarian Shaman and an Ogre Shadowknight on Tarrew Marr. Lol, we'd best be careful before we hijack a thread
Jafo: no, no, I mean in the spirit of " I wouldn't touch you with a t..." ...urm, well, no point in ruining a flattering misunderstanding.
Dave: 3 weeks!!! man, you lucked out, huh? People have had 'gender surprises' in more time that that, lol. Reminds me of the quote from The Importance of Being Earnest: "To speak frankly, I am not in favour of long engagements. They give people the opportunity of finding out each other’s character before marriage, which I think is never advisable." You didn't know a marine biologist when you lived on Cannery Row, did ya? <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/b
!! What did I do?? /me pokes Doreen If ya knew how many leggy barbarian women I have played with on Everquest only to find out they are geeky men... How would a gal know that a reasonable portion of the folks here aren't women? Is it that obvious? Just curious how you know to be intimidated in the first place. Not that you should be... If the women i know in real life
I'm not discounting any of this, but why is it intimidating to post somewhere that is mostly men? Being a man, it is kind of hard for me to understand. I have played MMORPGs now for so long now that I don't even register a person's gender until they tell me. Most nicknames are so unisex that I wouldn't know one way or another. Lemme tell ya, even the name 'Gadget Girl' is no guarantee to someone that has hung out in online social areas for 10 years... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/
Some site's edit functions have a time limit to stop 'revisionists'. I agree that there would be problems, but there ought to be some way for hasty folks to back out of a flamefest with their ego spared. Well, in that light, why not allow the creator of a string to delete it? The problem is people wander in 12 hours after it has cooled off, and start it all over again. Locking threads is worse than everything combined... Ah, well, it was a thought.
I agree with paxx. The people that pay support the site, would be a nice reward.
To be honest what I would want more than a spell checker is the ability to go back and delete or edit one's own posts. I think in light of recent occurances, people would really like to be able to delete or edit their posts. I think people would be more apt to delete goofy statements than defend them if they had the opportunity. As for a spell checker, I use IESpell. It is browser plugin that offers a right click option on any text box. I think Jafo does a good server-side job, thou
I have heard the delay is evil on satellite connections. Kind of like watching a satellite interview on the news. I was told it was fine for surfing and such, but online games are out of the question.
I think the eventual problem will be the monopoly status of the folks who have the powerlines. Think about it, they could charge whatever they want, no competition. If all the high-speed ISPs can't use the electrical lines, I dunno that any of them will be able to. The rest will scream unfair practices. If they all end up able to, and it works, I think it would be the death of high-speed access over residential lines. I kind of doubt it would be much cheaper though. Once consumers
Things got a bit ugly because of what I would term repetitive stress. The same 'blunt instrument' (in this case Linux/Mac/XP) was used as the period of every sentence. No matter the problem the thread addressed, we were told what the *real* problem was. I'll do my best to keep to the three suggestions above. If statements like equating LS with a virus are not authoritatively challenged, though, those statements are soon made so often that they require constant rebuttal by use
My wife and I were politely asked to leave the ( religious ) college we were attending, lol. we were married 3 years later. It will be 10 years the third of May.
I have honestly assumed that we were dealing with JM under a different name, recently... Probably an unfair assumption, it was just that some of the arguments lately looked suspiciously familiar. He had been a lot more sociable lately, though, i'm probably just being paranoid.

Nah, I think it was Canadian, though there was no 'eh?' at the end.
Somatic Delusion I talked to him about 6 or 8 months ago. Not skinning anymore, I think.
And the award for "Diplomatic Use of Language" goes to... JAFO!! for the phrase "some lateral thinker's option". Perhaps a bit optimistic, but doubtlessly more civilized than the average first impulse.
aye! I got an email from Tananda the other day. I need to answer it and point her over here. Whatever happened to Rolf ( XX )? I still use his calc.
I thought there was anyther name change...
LMAO I'm sorry. it has been an odd couple of days here... My fault. The idea I got from the guy was that you could only connect to that ISP with their own proprietary software. It would be odd, but that was what he seemed to be saying. Like it had to handshake or or something. I had never heard of needing any kind of special software to connect. I haven't needed it for dialup or dsl, but I guess if they say he needs it...
I hope I haven't given the impression I am some kind of XP freak... I use win2000
