I'm sorry, but at "Crashstep (Litestep)." I would have exiled him. Needless, ignorant, and damaging behavior. People shouldn't be allowed to use WCs servers to mislead people.

You understand that you are doing your best to damage the reputation of software that you have no clue how to use and that people work very hard to create? How sad that you have so little respect for the developers of LS and the people you are misleading. Someone who doesn't recognize that you have no idea what you are talking about might think that LS *IS* as dangerous as a virus, and opt not to use it. Very, very sad.
"they just don't know how to use Litestep" Who knows how to use anything the first time they use it? Well, of course, it is the people who RTFM.
LS has never seen the day it was as bad an experience as ME... ** "It seems to me if XP would not be able to handle compatibility issues with Litestep, then installing it on my computer would be just as bad as voluntarily infecting my computer with a virus." ** gah, the babbling. How is LS worse than a virus? What does LS destroy? What is damaged by LS? Do you even know what a virus is? Do you know what a shell is? JEEZ... The shell doesn't work, you switc
jj79_1999: what? questions? You don't know? I assumed you knew what you were talking about when you made all thise inane and patently false comments about LS. I had NO idea you talking out of your ass... *shocked* I still say kona has 2 accounts...
software, illegally distributed
Wow, I guess i am S.O.L. then.
, He's running it off a cable modem. His ISP is http://www.rcn.com/ The ID appears to be 209-6-189-30.c3-0.wth-ubr2.sbo-wth.ma.cable.rcn.com Not that I looked into it or anything. I wonder if the MPAA will find out about all those DVD rips...
no, WB doesn't change dlls, it just intercepts the windows calls, if I understand it correctly. Nothing physical is changed about your OS, you just run an app that interprets the UI.
He said he didn't have a the CD or a boot disk, lol. Maybe he decided it was a good time to upgrade. DOS does seem to scare people.
lmao, if you need to be that sure, put yer pants back on... No word back in an hour or so, so I am assuming it worked or he had a long drive home.
well, resource hacking started it all. Numerous apps.
already caught it on the other string, jafo
wow, gm, that is a nice one.
Well, it is more the precedent it sets... the fact that you don't 'own' what you own, you aren't even allowed to take it apart. The warranty is no big woop, having it illegal is kinda scary. I'm just kind of surprised that MS hasn't had anything to say about software specifially built to hack window's system dlls. Intercepting the calls isn't really their concern, since nothing is altered. Msstyles seems a bit more than they traditionally embrace. I'm a win2000 fogey, tho
what you are looking for is the "For those unfortunate people who can't open their favorite text editor in Windows, DOS edit is gonna have to do." paragraph.
Not to beat you over the head, but didn't you read the manual before you installed it? RTFM is pretty much the rule for shell replacements. go here: http://lsdocs.shellfront.org/install.php read the section called 'Uninstalling LiteStep from Windows 95/98/ME' carefully.
Do you have a 98se boot disk? You can edit the shell= line in DOS if you do.
No, the *act* of reverse engineering was made illegal recently by a series of laws. That is why you are gonna be prevented soon from buying 3rd party printer cartriges and why people are being prosecuted for making X-Box modchips. The printer thing goes like this. They don't want people selling cheap carts for them. SO, they attatch a chip that has an identifier on it. In order to make a 3rd party cartidge, you have to know how the chip works, and it is *illegal* to reverse engine
I think that would be a solid 'yes' on the wasting time thing... ** ANYWAY... about my last question, wouldn't msstyles void the Microsoft service agreement by altering the dll? What are the *legalities* of software that reverse-engineers other software in a time when reverse engineering has been made illegal?
Please, don't reinstall windows until you have exhausted all possibilities. It is needless 99% of the time.
it sounds like you don't have a shell running. You'll need to set it back to explorer. How you do that will depend on the OS version you are using.
Grey: yup, with the kind of graphics you are making, that would work. All the gradients you use are within the ability of vector graphics, so you only have to rasterize when you save the images. For stuff that is more realistic, though, one would have to rasterize long before. Because of this, I keep all my shapes stored as either vector paths or shapes in a separate channel. Same difference, really.
"But I bought so I feel I can mess it up if I want to." Makes a difference if it isn't legal to do so, of if later you need to deal with MS Customer Support. Not my site, so my opinion on your presence isn't relavent.
