hmm? Custo has been running fine for a long time haven't they? I looked in recently, seemed to putting right along.

The only one I saw was on their messageboard. I posted here about it a couple of days back. It's still down there somewhere.
listen to moonbeam... er... sunflower... er... Jafo.
lol, pjpowell. Great minds think alike . I must type slow...
exploreRPG!: no offense, but nothing you are saying has any relationship to a real image manipulation app. No one is talking about batch watermarking, file conversion, or applying filters. Realtime painting requires the image to be loaded into memory, and anything that touches on disk access is painfully slow. Just ask anyone who falls back on virtual memory or scratch disk to supplement their RAM. I feel for ya, I really do, but you have no idea what you are talking about.
pfft. He's not here to post bugs. If he was interested in bugs, he'd use the form at stardock support or be ranting in the newsgroup. He wandered in, saw someone griping, and thought he'd boost his ego a bit. I don't care if he uses ME or not, but when he makes statements that are utterly wrong and then tries to pose as a developer to make them 'seem' right, he should assume he's gonna get flamed.
Where did you get the idea this was the place to post bugs? Is this the Stardock site? Is there a 'bug' forum? Anyway, where on this string did you try to report a bug?
"I'm a developer, so are you aware that there are better, more efficient methods for handing large amounts of information than attempting to load the entire pic in memory. (Oh, we do seem primative..) Check out Microsoft TerraServer and then come back and talk to me about large scale image processing." No, you aren't developer, of that I have absolutely no doubt at this point. The last post has no relation to reality in image editing or development. I say ban this guy, he's a waste of
*cough* ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnwui/html/layerwin.asp )
There is no end to this sewage leak; it has flowed onto 3 or 4 strings regardless of topic. My vote is for an admin to plug it, since there is no end in site and no possible way to appease him. His problem is on the Stardock site, not here flaming.
Now see, he went and bit someone. I knew this would happen. On the next full moon we'll probably all be howlin'.
exploreRPG!: you said "Your a f*cking joke" No, You are clueless. I suggest you get yourself a copy of Photoshop, and load up a 24" by 36" image at 600-1000dpi with 15 or 20 layers, and then hold yourself back about 90 history states. Then come back and talk to me about RAM. I have more than a gig in my design machine, and if I had it to do over, I wouldn't have bought a board that held less than 2 gigs. The people you are talking to USE their systems, not just for browsin
exploreRPG!: "I've notice how areas of Windows blinds run transparent and sometimes fail.. This could be caused by a number of reasons. (But I assure you its NOT the OS.)" Transparency is not supported in 98 and ME, never has been. That's the reason that there are always so many quirks involved with applications that roll their own. I find it hard to believe that a developer wouldn't understand that. I would really, really like a link to information on the software you have developed
i agree with Thornz. I was under the impression that the actual UI elements were the point of the section. I dunno how comfotable it will be to browse when it is swamped with app icons of various shades and overlayed effects.
No offense, but the numbers are stupid anyway. The last *total* I saw for homicides in the US ( 2000 ) was: 16,137. That's guns, knives, vehicular homicide, etc. Saying that there are 21,000 gun homicides for 6 states is kind of stupid, no? Maybe in a ten year sample. here's a good link: ( http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0005110.html ), and another: ( http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/deaths.htm ) People spend a lot of time twisting numbers to their benefit, and none of it c
This has been done to death. Nothing would be accomplished by doing it again.
JM: Jafo is welcome to correct my spelling and grammar, and you are welcome to make a decent argument; in words if not in product. You made a dubious statement: ("There is no way to just automatically 'generate' a picture in Bryce"), and I answered it. It's not like I'm knocking you off the swing and pulling your hair. BTW, whataya think about that wallpaper section? I think it oughtta go, you? <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/surprised.gif" border=0 ALIGN
CTRL-W, ALT-TAB, real men don't need buttons that work.
I had 256 and the geeky lookin dude at CompUSA told me that 98 and ME wouldn't defrag ram past a certain point(128/256 respectively), making the ram past that point useless. After about 5 minutes it was like "Derp de derp, derpty... derp?". You know how those creepy "I have hated computers since they invented the mouse" people can be.... Kinda poisoned me on 98, though, I didn't bother with more ram til I got win2k.
For me it is a tie between Litestep and Talisman. I never cared much for aston, though I haven't tried it for a while. If you can RTFM, Litestep is freeware and has a ton of 3rd party plugins, but a lot of complexity goes with that, and many's the unwary n00b that has regretted not reading the docs. If I had to make suggestion, I would use something in the way of a shell 'enhancement', and then move on to a shell replacement if you felt it necessary. There are several apps here that
I was 'told' that 98 wouldn't efficiently handle RAM over 128megs, and ME wouldn't efficiently handle it over 256. True?
JM: nope, against league rules. We'll be rootin' for ya in the 'special' duals, though. This XP guy seems your speed, tell him that Bryce runs better on XP.
"3 of which are within arm's reach, each running 3 entirely different OS" each running an entirely different OS. cut/paste/edit...
exploreRPG!: I'm 32, and have owned computers since I was 12. I don't buy machines, I build them. 3 of which are within arm's reach, each running 3 entirely different OS. It is easy for little 'ole me to see how goofy you are, and Frogboy is eons past me in expertise. Anyone spouting slashdot propaganda while using ME is in serious need of help. I suggest finding yourself a linux board and duking it out with people who are more anxious to have the kind of conversations you are attemp
This is a good place to start: http://www.shellfront.org/ Talisman is the shell I use. It is pretty handy in that you can run it over Explorer until you are comfortable, and then replace explorer thereafter. Lots of shell replacement folks here, though, and as many opinions
