If people alter stuff for their own use they aren't rippers. If you wanna take the time to cut out every image from a set and convert them to icons, hey, it's your time. I personally value that kind of time more than $9.95 I do, though, think it is kind of kind of offensive to be snide about 'welfare checks'. If you want to fix something that has weakened, look at what it was originally designed to do and compare it to what it's trying to do. If every site has to be 'everything to everyone', then this isn't much of a community. I don't think anyone can outdo the big bitbuckets at hosting wallpapers and the mega apps. I fall right in the middle. I don't think people should get bored and leave the rest to 'default', but if a skin looks good with plain, flat buttons I don't think anyone should be given hell for using them. Too many times skinners get flamed because they didn't do fine detail on every single part. As long as the 'generic' aspects are as thought out as the detailed ones, I don't see any trouble. If the new WB makes that easier, I'm all for it. Sometimes a doorknob is just a doorknob.

Frogboy: that is 5 megs per session, though, right? Couldn't a person with a dynamic IP come back with another IP and get another 5 megs? I would just do anything I could to add a layer of abstraction between the freeloader and the 'crimes of opportunity', i.e. manditory login, etc. Make it less comfortable to be here without being overtly *interested* in the focus of the site. Now is when I annoy people, unfortunately. What are the freeloaders downloading? Is it the same thing as paying customers, or is it peripheral items, the condiments, as it were? Are there any sections here that are done better elsewhere? Any sections that also tend to have files of a large size? Is each section doing a substantial service for the app in question? I have seen people navigate Windows much faster with the keyboard than I can with a mouse. The mouse is overused by people with a solid knowledge of computers. slicing with the hotkeys is really, really fast, too. Hotkeys are something that are really overlooked in Windows use, I think. People don't wanna memorize them, but they are much, much more efficient than a mouse meovement/click combination. I keep seeing that commercial (earthlink?) on tv where it looks like the guy is playing a video game, but he is really trying to close pop-up windows. I wanna yell "Ctrl W, you twit!". Mac users seem more comfortable with hotkeys. If you every watch someone who has a *really* high comfort level

adam: That is utter crap. OSX is based on Unix, an operating system that pretty much makes Windows look like a commodore 64. Saying it is somehow a rip of XP is silly, what basis do you have for that? How about posting the dates of development for XP and OSX? tinkergaloot: lol... ummm... shop around a bit and price those parts yourself, retail even. If I couldn't build an equivalent PC myself for less than 3 grand I would eat it without condiments. You can get a Sony 17" widescreen multimedia display for $999, from Best Buy ... and if I couldn't weasel my hardware cheaper than retail I'd quit. If you pay for a Mac, it is because you want a Mac. There's not a thing affordable about them.
