As long as you don't distribute anything you haven't gotten permission to distribute, you'll be fine. IF it isn't yours, ask, if they don't answer, use something else or nothing at all. I'm not sure where all the 'hell' stuff comes from. It's like mp3's. There is a debate on whether sharing them is legal, but there is NO debate whether it's right to claim to be the artist that perfomrmed the song... I don't like OS ports for the same reason. In elemetary school art class it is unde

Nah, we get ya. and a screenshot is fine, just say who made what. Screenshots are for everyone, users and artists. If you distribute the theme though, and it uses elements from other artists' work, it isn't an original work, and would need permission from all the artists you borrowed from, no matter how much you change.

p.s. the only addendum to that is when the derivative work is done for a journalistic or scholarly study, and then the amount of work you can reference is limited in scope. Skins fall under neither category, anyway.

Z71, I can't reach you, fear not... no, you really have to get their permission first, credit or not. Even if you credit them, according to copyright law the creator of a work has the *exclusive* right to decide whether or not derivative works can be made, and who is allowed to create those works. If you go ahead and distribute them without first letting them decide, you have violated that right. You might get away with it, but if they don't want it done, they can cause you trouble t

yeah, i think it is part of their whole co-branding thing. I hope it works out for them, i'd like to see sights find new ways to support themselves other than banner ads.

I don't like categories unless they are really, really necessary. At devart theyhave so much crap *cough* content of varying interest that you about have to have them, but here everything is either on-topic, or off-topic in a community kinda way. If you add a poetry section, then maybe, but in that case I would scream and run away anyway...

ugh, i dunno about a 75. I have a p90 laptop that I have hooked external speakers to in the bedroom, and it makes a darn good webradio and E-Book reader (simultaneously). Ya never know til ya try. If ya think about it, machines were doing the same basic jobs then that they are now, so if you could put together a good, light set of apps, I'm sure you could find good uses for it. SOunds like a linux box to me. Most of the trouble I end up having with older systems isn't the amount of

Depends on who you work with. Some might want you to let them upload it, but I think many people wouldn't mind you uploading it with the proper credit, both in the comment and in the readme.txt in the files themselves. I've done both.

no, i would think since dragonball z is a trademarked, copyrighted franchise, that it would be illegal to create works based upon it without permission from the company.

I picked up a few 200mgz ibm business machines at a show really, really cheap aabout a year and a half ago, just to play with, make workstations out of, etc. I set one up as a file server here in my office and DANG, it is the nicest thing I have ever had. There's no way I could go back. I put an 80 gig drive in it, set it on my desk with a reasonably priced KVM switch and linksys router, and it has served me tirelessly ever since. Now, when someone in the livingroom is lilstening to mp3's, t

methinks this is about a week late. They released 3 when they moved 2.x to the classic sinamp site. There was a news post about it --> https://www.wincustomize.com/index.asp?Cmd=full&NewsID=1101

The official storage area for Winamp skins is deskmod, if i am not mistaken, they just hook the two sites up seemlessly. And 3 was officially released about a week ago, actually, when they moved 2.x over to the 'classic' page.

HuronJoe: a gig of ram might be enough. Anything for a monitor it should be fine with a moderate amount of history steps, but you'll have trouble with poster-sized stuff with multiple layers, especially at the resolutions needed for printing. So I suess it depends on your design jobs.

Many skinners are very open to requests to modify thier work, it is always worth a try. So many don't bother to ask that it is refreshing when someone finally does. Screenshots are great way to show skills, get bragging rights, and not steal from folks.
