It would depend both on what he wants to do, and what you mean by 'graphics company'. You would normally go about marketing your work the same way you would if you were making cartoons for a western-style cartoon (if his work is animated, i.e. Anime) or a traditional comic book (if his images are meant to be static, i.e. Manga). There is also the option of putting it all together into a portfolio and using it to get a job as an illustrator or animator with the many companies that produ

You are not *giving* Stardock your files, you can take them down whenever you like, and you can uncheck the box that allows them to use them. That amounts to free STORAGE. You have every right to go get some Geocities space and upload them to there, to your own, free site. When you go a month or two with no visits, you will understand the service that Stardock is providing. Anyway, you have no problem at this point, since there is no work of yours here for Stardock to "charge for".<

Boza... My apologies. I assumed you were being righteously indignant out of childishness. It seems instead you have taken wise council and shut your trap. My apologies. Keep on that heading and your cheesbugers will be spit-free for the remainder of your days...

mgorbach: no, you said a lot of other things, many of which you would like to distance yourself from nowno doubt. The facts are, though, that there are *no* free sites in this 'community', and neither person that is railing on this string has offered the first original peice of art that I can find. Stardock, on the other hand has done a great deal, regardless of whether they do it for profit or not, they have at least done something. P.S. 'borrowing' graphics has nothing to do with a lack of t

mgorbach has no clue, there's never been a free site that could pay for itself. the idea itself is an oxymoron. Nice stuff there btw, 'skinner', the community appreciates all that cut-and-paste of stolen graphics. Boza : You read another inane post that you agreed with, and without even looking into it vainly started another one of your own. You ended it with "else... I'm out'a here!", and frankly I'm a bit disappointed. See, the thing is, there are a lot of ki

Don't feel all sheepish when you realize you were a dolt, and that no one is 'harmed' by Stardock running their site as they please. Just come back and don't fret your mistakes. In the meantime, Buh bye... staying and reasserting your point just makes you look like you are trying to find an excuse to stay... It takes your already useless retreat and aggravates it by leaving a stink in your wake.

Well, i guess if you 'like' getting socked in the teeth by gorillas it wouldn't be worth the effort... They are dead if they don't, IMHO. I don't think they will keep current hardware smokescreen going through the advent of 4 and 5 Intel/AMDgig processors. Design-software developers are gonna catch up to the hardware sooner or later. Then Apple will be left with grandmas and teens who like their 'look', which will pretty much make them a classy e-machine with its own OS...

I had a touch of joetheblow once, a little anitbiotics cleared it right up cleared it right up... I disagree with all the complexity complaints. Some apps are gonna be easy to do, others aren't. I think that an app as all-encompassing as windowblinds would have to have to be complex. I mean, you are skinning everything you see, for the most part, so it is practically on the shell-level of useful

For a long time I used Visual C++'s text editor for most stuff, but now I am using HTML Kit for most everything except C++. It has syntax highlighting for PHP and a ton of other formats, and you can make your own plugins and syntax add-ons. It has an insane amount of tools, many of which I haven't gotten around to using after a year of using the product. It is not like dreamweaver or wysiwyg edirot, it is built for people who do it all by hand. http://www.chami.com/html-kit/start/<b

I understand that you can't just plug the new Mac os into a new hardware/processor setup. But it is kind of like a guy that has a 300 pound gorilla living in his closet. Every day, the gorilla comes out and socks him in the teeth. Since it is cheaper to buy false teeth than get rid of the gorilla, he just keeps buying false teeth. In this case apple keeps slapping nice cases and flashy OS on a hardware setup that is substandard, and tries to muddy the water by adding processesors a

I think you would have a far easier time gaining assistance with learning to skin, than making custom skins. Anyway, it wouldn't be legal to deistributed trademarked/copyrighted material in skins. It would be perfectly okay for you to make them for your own personal use, though.

I dunno. Mac bashing is a national passtime for some. Isn't the new hardware thinga done deal? I read that they were going to intel/amd based hardware a couple of weeks ago. If so, they would no longer have to defend strange hardware specs: ( a guy once spent a half hour trying to tell me why his dual processor (2x1ghz) powermac was twice as powerful as my 1.8 celeron... I would rather set myself on fire than talk processors with a mac person...) I can't see how switching

One problem is the contrary-ness of the audience. "Innovation" is difficult when people are so critical of all things 'busy'. Half the users want animations and flashy effects, and the other half are like techno-amish, shunning anything that gets more than a year or two more advanced than command lines. I have tried to do some things lately that are different without being flashy, but the mechanics just don't seem to be there for much behind-the-UI usefulness. We've reached a point that 'sty

I agreee with both of you to a point. I see a great deal of *quality* but i don't see a lot of innovation. I think things are being well-made, but it has been a while since something shocked me with its freshness. No doubt that will change when all the new features cement themselves in our minds. So far i think we are trying to 'port' our old ideas to new formats. The best features are really new, and I, for one, am having a hard time taking it all in. Now, one has to not only know

We use it because there is nothing else, period. If you want the broadest selection of software and usability, you have to pick windows. Macs are a close second, but the performance isn't there (though it probably soon will be when they go intel). While more games and apps are coming out for Linux, there is simply no chance that the 'next big thing' in graphics or gaming is gonna be released for it. Sad to say, until I can buy a boxed OS that runs what I want it to, there'll only b
