The point is that one "bad rate" won't cause that. With the other ratings you got, even a 1 would not have caused that. That's the whole point of it being an average mark. There is no conspiracy to mark people down. I think it's very wrong because even if you answered ten emails a day, so what? That's just over three hundred emails a month. That sounds like a lot. However, WinCustomize gets 1.2 million unique hits a month. I don't deny that what you do is great, and it hel

'But do you thing it is healthy, to give 4 to "a nice piece of art" just because of this?' If you were not a master and so not subject to moderation, it is quite possible that it would not have made the library at all because of this. As the guidelines say: "The prime directive for wallpapers is that they must WORK as a wallpaper, in other words the design should be an effective desktop background, which includes: The background is not too busy and icons are easy to s

What authors are being sent away, adni? And why are they emailing you about it? Name some names. Just because someone rates something 10 doesn't put any onus on someone else to rate it highly. Tastes can vary wildly, as can what things people consider a good wallpaper should have. And you're getting worked up over a 4?! Come on. The fact is that not all wallpapers are as good as one another. You have over *100* wallpapers here that are overall rated 7 or more. I find it hard to b

There's a difference between a correct skin and a good skin, though. Ratings are an important filtering tool. But adni, I have to wonder what you mean by "What a great way to say thank you for all my work and the 5.000.000 downloads". Do you feel this site owes you something? Isn't having the most downloads reward enough? What if some people just don't like your work? Are you suggesting the admins force people to only rate your skins well? Also, if you truly don't care,

To forestall any further threads, yes there is a problem with the servers controlling these services. Nobody from Stardock is around right now, but they'll probably be back up when they are. Until then I suggest candlelit vigils at your local Stardock shrine. Burnt offerings of floppy disks are also gratefully accepted (please, no mac-formatted disks).

Ohh . . . so cheesy. Although it gets better after the first bit. The main problem with it is that I couldn't actually see any of the features you were describing - the video quality was too low. You need to zoom in or something. Also there were sound problems - I know, you have limited bandwidth. But I'd wait a bit longer to have a better-quality experience.

Don't knock it. Knowing WB's UIS format is the key to infinite power. And I think it helps you be a better skin designer, too. Besides, when SkinStudio doesn't have the latest skin attributes, you have to go down to the UIS anyway. Notepad - it's the only way to skin.

Trouble with that is it adds to the time taken to apply a skin. Some WB themes can be up to 5Mb with all the shellstyle stuff. It'd be nice though - I have close to 300 WB skins installed, and they do take up a bit. Maybe a skin cache?

Universal Interface Specification, I believe. There's UIS1 (which should really be UIS1++) and UIS2, which came before it. Confusing, no? *g* See http://www.windowblinds.net/skinning/skinformats.html for full details of the differences.

They're all correct. They're all the same version. The build or revision at the end is not particularly relevant as they start at different points - it's the bit at the front that matters.

Been removed, for now. You can edit it with SkinStudio - see www.skinstudio.net - it's under Miscellaneous/Colours on the left, then 3D controls/Text - System Button on the right. Or you can just open up the skin's UIS file in notepad and look for the ButtonText in [Colours] (but you'll have to figure out the RGB value yourself).

Sounds possible. Please give exact information on what version of MS works you have, and what skins you've tried (does it work with Blackcomb, for example . . . and if so, does it work with Blackcomb Plus, the UIS2 version?) Also does a per-application setting such as "only skin the titlebar" help?

Road_Kil: A week or two, I believe. And yes, the california server was just resynched, should be showing up now. It's XP-only because people felt it better to release something that was ready for those who could use it rather than wait several months until those that couldn't, could.
