You will probably just be able to download the full game. Hopefully it will be smaller than a "complete" download, since it's likely that a lot of the videos etc will be the same, so SDC won't have to update them.

Yes, you can alt-tab in full-screen, but it's slow. A windowed mode exe would probably just be a differently-named copy of galciv.exe with a few changes.

No, right from the bat, they've got extra things coming out. Wait 6 days, then judge for yourself. I think you'll find it's a very complete game as it is. Stardock already *had* an extra month to develop that they weren't expecting to have. It should work fine, but at the moment you do have to turn it on specifically. (Display Properties/Advanced/Skin Console Windows)

Copy protection has never been a total barrier. The idea isn't to make it impossible, though, but to make it harder. Yes, you could copy that 400-page book . . . but it would take $10, and you'd have to spend all that time copying it. The first two months are the most important times for a game's sales. Are you using a pop-up stopper? They can cause windows to not open if ctrl is not held down, at least for me (unless a UIS1-type skin is used)

Are you kidding? I would never willingly go back to 98. The crashes! The resource limitations! The general cruftiness! Sure, it could run on far less than XP, but only for a few hours at a time. ;-)

The background of the logon box is usually an image, not a solid colour (if you mean what I think you mean). In User Account, click the Frame Picture option, and select another image (or if you prefer, try deselecting the "Use Picture" checkbox, click OK and then set a BackColour for that area).
